I think because Robert was first choice, Ollie's chances were very limited under SBR but definitely remember him getting a few games as LW early in the piece.

I think Gordon, while not the best player at the club, is probably my favourite player for some time. As a person he just oozes class, works hard for the team, gets the club and hope he stays for years. I've been glad to have been proven wrong when I was seriously underwhelmed by him prior to his signing. For the last while, Miggy frustrates the life out of me, but while he wears our colours Ill be willing him on to getting back to scoring those worldies every other week.

 

Gordon is one of a number of players who are below par at the minute but I'm really looking forward to when it does all start to click around the team again consistently. Maybe a decent RW option in Jan and Wilson staying fit will get him a consistent run in the side without being moved about and he will be back to his best. Of all our players he seems to be moved about the most, an argument for Big Joe could be made too

 

At one point it was almost guaranteed that the opposition RB would get at least a yellow when Gordon played

He was a joy in the Ashley/Bruce era but that's gone, as has he.

Fuck could you imagine the strop David would have had at what Howe wants from a player. Robert too. Add HBA as well. There would be cheese and wine out of the prams all over the place.

To be fair, I think ASM tried more than they would have done but he wasn't that good at it. And I seem to remember him getting an injury doing so.

It some respects, it is good to reflect on Gordon and how he is playing. It is also good to compare him to people in the past and ASM is the natural choice as he was replaced. 

 

Gordon was an odd signing for me, I wasn't keen. He didn't seem to stand out as a great player for me. If anything, I thought he was a cheat who just like to dive.

 

Like ASM, he seems to be really keen to engage with the fans. They both seem to be keen to share some of their wealth. I remember being impressed with a video of him supporting a food bank in Liverpool. It seemed like a genuine support rather than a PR stunt (he knew what to buy for a start). He seems like a human.

 

If we are going to compare him on his performances to past players, as well, then he also stacks up well. There could be an argument that he has had his purple patch and this is his level. I doubt it. However, if it is his level, unlike Miggy, he still offers a lot in every game and clearly makes a positive difference in each match.
