I only recently realised how mirror-breakingly ugly Troy was. He looks like Harvey Price on two cowies.

He definitely got pulled out of his mother by the face from Popeye after a tin of taste the difference spinach.

Ideal scenario is we get another out of him by which time PSR is changed and our overlords can shower him with quality team mates and riches.

if we finish top four this season, i think we sign him up to a lomg-term deal.

these players all know that if they win a trophy they will go down as legends. it will be harder for any player to walk away then.

Not a chance (if I was him) I’d sign a new contract when there’s 500k a week wages elsewhere. Unless we get very close to the going wage rate for a world class striker, which seems unlikely as PSR stands.

i think we break the bank - and the wage structure - to secure him to a long term deal if we finish top four again. another season of champions league will give us more psr headroom and will help us secure new commercial deals - stadum/training ground naming rights the obvious ones.

it won't be £500k per week but it could be half that, which still isn't to be sniffed at. we're building something special. the destination is man city-level dominance. being part of that journey is going to be seductive for a lot of players - they will go down in newcastle folklore. of course, we'll lose some players along the way if real madrid come calling but others will stay for the ride

Should get a different Saudi company to sponsor each one of his dog leashes.
£10 million each per annum.

He's got 3.5 years left on his deal so he can jump at the opportunity all he wants. If someone doesn't offer silly money then he's going nowhere

That's not quite how it works unfortunately.

It’s quite simple. He could just be unprofessional and down tools if he wants a move (eg we are blocking Madrid).

There would be no point in keeping a player that doesn’t want to be here.

the only way he leaves with 3.5 years on his contract is if he agitates for a move. if we finish top four and win a cup, why would he do that? he'll be a club legend and it would take a bid from a club the size of man city to tempt him in that scenario.

if we finish outside the top four, don't be surprised if we cash in on him or bruno

Money is the answer. He's probably on less than a third of what Haaland is getting at Man City. He's not gonna settle for that long term and we're not in a position to match it yet.

Well exactly, if Madrid came in then the move would happen.

man city are an outlier club like real. he won't get close to 500k anywhere else

I think you're overestimating what it means to a Swedish lad to be a "club legend" that earns less and wins fewer trophies than if he played elsewhere.

And where he could also become a club legend.

lewandowski is on 700k and turning 37 soon.

Isak is probably on their radar.

Arsenal would probably offer upgraded wages

... Cant really think of any other club that can pay (who also need a striker now or soonish)

Chelsea could probably somehow do it.

he won't get that kind of adoration at many other clubs for winning the league cup. i might have rose tinted glasses on, but i think there's a togetherness in our squad built around wanting to be the first team to win us our first trophy in about half a century. it must be very motivating.

I thought the days of the "He plays for the love of club" had been extinguished. But here we are.

Players are just like any workers. If they get a chance to get paid more money and/or move to a better company (club)  they will go.

I love the romantic view of the world and wish it were true, but Isak, Bruno and the others would push our League Cup chances into the bin if Real Madrid came along with a £500k per week contract.
