We're gonna have to offer him serious money for him to sign another contract. He knows if he goes elsewhere he'll be able to demand multiples of what he's currently getting.

As it stands, he's contracted to 2028, so you'd think we don't really HAVE to tie him down, but if he doesn't sign it's because he's got one eye on the exit door and getting paid a lot more for his services.

We'll see. Time for the Saudis to get real about what he's worth to us if the Chairman is adamant we don't lose him.

The thing that annoys me a bit in all this is that the reports at the start of the season were that he was pushing us to sign a new deal, and we were dragging our feet because of how long he had left. That does make sense in a way but it's not worked out very well.

Aye Eales at the recent open day he did, telling journalists that he would "politely remind Alex that he's already on a long term deal". Bellend craic when you've got one of the best strikers in the world on your books and you're paying him a fraction of what he could get elsewhere.

eales being a bellend? nah, not having that.

3 years left on a contract is worthless if a player is unhappy and wants out. isak is on 30% of what raheem sterling and rashford are raking in, neither are fit to lace his boots.

we need his goals to shoot us to a top 4 finish and then treble his wages, he'll have earned it.

Is it even feasible for the club to stump up the wages he'd be after if he figures big CL clubs will be in for him down the road?

Especially as it would likely create a benchmark for our other big players we have (and even dont have yet) to work with when they negotiate contracts. Not that others could demand equivalent wages with one of worlds best strikers but they could argue that the "wage structure" the club had previously negotiated wages under has shifted. I dunno. I think unless we can convince him to accept a moderate wage increase, he'll likely be away in the next year or so.

Obviously, I pray I'm wrong. He's second only behind Howe in terms of importance. But I don't see how it's possible to keep him.

Once Trippier, Wilson, Kelly, Targett et al are off the books, that frees up a wedge for Isak. He’s staying, lads

Might as well give him Wilson's wages anyway, we've been down to one striker for most of the season

He meets Wilson in the canteen each week and takes his wages off him is what heard. And walks away doing his "this daft cunt" thumb over the shoulder celebration.

Mrs Wyki then cheers him up. 🙂

he may as well sign a new deal for a load more money, even if he does plan to leave. contracts are pretty meaningless if a player wants to leave. just gives the selling club a stronger hand. not that we have a weak one given he's still got three years left on the deal.

it all hinges on champions league football. if we get that we should smash the wagee structure to keep this lad - he's that good - and give him something north of £300k a week, which he would expect to get at liverpool or madrid

i'm confident he stays - if we get champions league football.  we won't need to sell him. the only way that changes is if a club like real come in, which seems unlikely unless they sell vini

targett is rumoured to be on 100k - he should be one of the first out of the door for that reason alone. crazy wages to be paying the third choice player in his position. wilson's on a similar deal and he'll be out the door too. tripper is the one i think has shown he might be worth holding on to for another season

I’ve been laughing a bit about the rumours linking him away again. I think it’s high time that these lads in the press and the media realise that the tide is very much shifting away from “United” and their ilk who think they have unlimited pulling power from the rest of the plebs in the league.

"Nev" doesn't seem to think so:

Quote

Gary Neville believes Manchester United should be in the mix to sign Alexander Isak, if the striker leaves Newcastle this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, has been at the centre of plenty of speculation over his future, with Arsenal and Liverpool both linked with a move for the striker.

However, when Jamie Carragher was asked about the Sweden international's next potential destination, Neville interrupted, saying: "United."

The former Man Utd defender went on to add: "They are going to struggle to keep hold of Isak, he is going to want to play somewhere else unfortunately it’s the nature of the beast,” Neville told It’s Called Soccer.

“They will lose those players unfortunately. The reality is Newcastle are a great football club and we didn’t see that any more as we did on Sunday [at the Carabao Cup final].

“But they will want to play for the Real Madrids, Liverpools, Manchester Uniteds and Bayern Munichs of this world, it’s just natural that these players will want to play at those clubs at some point, if they can.”

I couldn't believe that from Neville. He knows the plight of his former club atm, but they're all so convinced that, because Man United have been on top for most of his adult life, that it's just inconceivable for them to have an extended period in the relative wilderness.

They're a club in massive debt with mounting financial problems and a playing staff that isn't worth a fraction of what they paid for them. Sponsors will be looking to either get out or get their fees discounted. They basically have to perform miracles next time they enter the transfer market to have any hope of turning around their current predicament.

And this knob thinks Isak will remotely consider them as his next move.

If he wills it enough he thinks it could happen. Honestly, these cunts are so transparent. They're basically given a platform by sky to represent their two clubs on a weekly basis and you have now grown adults who take their words as gospel. I don't know about sports washing but sky definitely promote football brain washing.

He and the rest of the goons at Sky want to have a think about what Eddie Howe has done with the players he inherited especially in his first season and compare it with what Amorim has fuckin done. And then they need to suggest that Man Utd go out and get their own fuckin Isak :cuppa:

Ratcliffe claims Man United would have gone under without his cost cutting work. Does that sound like a club that can afford Isak?

Funnily enough Ashley said similar stuff and he was also full of shit.

The worst cost cutting implementation ever, keeping all the fat of the useless players on huge money that they've bought based on perceived potential whilst lowering their market value and instead chopping admin and academy staff. Incredible though that they can cut 450 staff. I wonder the total number of staff we were operating with under Ashley.
