We play that friendly a few days beforehand as well so the players should be fresh and ready. Depending on how badly England shit the bed, you could have had Trippier, Pope and Wilson back for a couple of weeks at that point too

Man U getting Leicester would have been the perfect draw, but obviously we can't grumble. Leicester have started to pick up a bit of form and stilll have some dangerous players, and Man U are obviously up and down as often as some of your mams on here 😉, but again have some very dangerous players on their day. The only thing about the Man U draw is that Kompany will be desperate to get one over Man U, so they might cause an upset.

If you think about summer tournaments the players involved are very rarely available for the first game of the season regardless of how much they’ve played. But as you say if England can’t get out of a group involving Iran, USA & Wales…

I think you're over estimating Wilson's and Pope's involvement. 

 

That said, I completely glossed over the fact we have players from other countries! 🤦‍♂️ so I guess we could feasibly be without Trippier, Bruno, Botman or Schar.  All of which would most likely have started on the bench for this one anyway (well maybe not Botman).
