Re: Hall and Gordon, it’ll probably force us down the 3 at the back route with Trippier and Livramento as wingbacks. It might represent our best chance of winning anyway, playing like that. Trippier will be far less exposed there and  Tino  is comfortable playing on that side. Clutching at straws perhaps but given how good LFC are this season I think it was always going to be a case of ‘it was written in the stars’ were we to win. There have been far bigger upsets in cup finals. I’ll temper that slightly by admitting I fully expect a comfortable win for the opposition

While we’re clutching for positives, we are now even bigger underdogs than we already were and we usually perform better when we’re underdogs. Maybe it takes the pressure off and allows them to play with more freedom and aggression given no one expects us to win.

Supposing Botman doesn’t make it am wondering who the 3rd CB would be? If it’s a 3  I’d play Tripps there and play Targett on the left…

Yeah I’d be happy with just having a right go now and not disgracing ourselves. Our only chance is a wonder show from Isak so I don’t want him anywhere Near East London at the start of next week :cuppa:

Are you procuring a ticket for the final?..,

i tried but the only option was a corporate ticket with a lad i know who supports liverpool, who will be insufferable if they win. tickets in our end are like hen's teeth.

i'm going to west ham on monday. don't fancy our chances in that one because they're bound to all have an eye on the final

Wilson has 12 goals against the bubble shaggers in 15 appearances. I'd definitely be giving him a start.

Aye loads of options at CB but barely enough to play a back 3, and not one of them under 30.

At the start of the season we had six players capable of playing CB with two positions available. But aye, we should have gone all out for that seventh CB.

How's our CB pairing looking at the minute?

Schar is finished, which leaves us with two left sided CBs, one of whom remains injured. And Lascelles who has never been good enough.

Yeah it's a fucking MYSTERY why we were trying to strengthen in defence last summer. Fucking dipshit.

We sold a CB in January, Schar's form has fallen off a cliff and we have two CBs injured. None of which could have been predicted in the summer. Not even by you, Baba Vanga.

Have you heard of "the ageing process"? Because our manager has, and that's what he was trying to mitigate against. And look what's come to pass.

We've already established that you were not of the opinion that Schar was finished in the summer. In fact last season he was out highest rated CB by whoscored.

Im sure Kelly was brought into to solve the pace and the age problem. Not great planning.

 I'm not sure Howe is running the club based on whoscored ratings.

Burn and Schar are doing alright at the minute, but I also think we shouldn't kid ourselves that they remotely compare to other central defensive pairings at the upper ends of the division. We're getting by at the minute but it's not gonna last.

Central defence is another key part of the squad where big investment is needed.

Bought for free, sold for £20m tbf.

I think that was more by luck than planning. He'd clearly been ear marked as at backup LB and CB that could possibly take his chance if he performed well.

Plus Juve have to finish in the top 6 this season for that to become permanent. They are currently 4th but if finish 7th there will be massive egg on our faces.
