And it was Staveley’s too in our first couple of windows. I don’t remember too many complaints at the time. She may well have trod on Ashworth’s no doubt delicate toes which obviously isn’t ideal. However negotiations usually start with a demand from the party. Here Leeds said they're giving him x without hearing what his demand was.
Gemmill 49280
Closer to £60m we were short. If it was only £30m we'd just have sold one of Anderson/Minteh.

Ok, that definitely includes missing out on Barnes too then…or doing something mad like selling Bruno Forest narrowly missed the PSR target and were docked points. They’re now second. There’s a chance we wouldn’t even be in this division if we’d missed it by 60 mill Edited December 30, 2024 by PaddockLad
Gemmill 49280
Said this at the time when some people were adamant that someone at the club had to be to blame for the PSR situation, and June 30th: it was nobody's fault. We had to go big in that first January window, or else relegation would have meant "the project" was dead on arrival. There would have been a reasonable assumption that we could trade our way out of that hole with the likes of ASM, Wilson, Almiron, etc. But we basically had to out ourselves in a hole to get anywhere. We haven't done anything particularly mental in any window since then. Even in the Jan window before June 30 we thought we could get a good chunk of the PSR hole through selling Almiron but he refused to go. Wilson looked on his way out too but it didn't happen. It's a nightmare set of rules to try and stick to AND make any sort of progress. I think they've done a pretty incredible job tbh, helped massively by Howe and his team being fucking ridiculously good at their jobs.

Suggests she was maybe a bit too involved - the fact she kept stepping in to get contract discussions over the line, and seemed to be heavily involved in transfer windows was maybe a problem. She was hardly a problem like. Without her we’d still be living in Ashley World and as for the transfers she was involved in compared to rat boy’s at manure well……
Gemmill 49280
Sounds like she was at least enough of a problem to Ashworth for him to want to leave. I'm not taking a side, I'm just saying that he's reported to have said that he'd have stayed if he knew she was going. As it stands, we lost them both. ewerk 32822
Aye, I think the issue with Ashworth was that if a player wanted something then they were sufficiently close to Mandy to be able to go over his head and directly to her.

Also could be a bit of a history rewrite to make him look less of a rat. I was also in the farmers rest before the game for that. Sat in our usual spot in the corner underneath the horrible pottery fox. Spent the evening in the company of Wes Saunders afterwards getting lashed in the Grey Horse in East Boldon. He said after the Gary Bennet foul Kenny Wharton screamed at him, Stay down, the mackem bastards off
Rayvin 5889
Not sure if this was brought up a few days ago or not but did anyone notice the Guardian did their player rankings for 2024 and had Isak at 90th? Behind, amongst others, Havertz, Walker and Cucurella. Meanwhile Harry Kane is 6th best in the world because ofc. Salah only made 11th. 3

Rayvin 5889
I also think that if Bruno Fernandes is in there at 60 something, our Bruno should be a good 20 places higher than him. It's also worth reading Isak's little bio thing, written by Louise Taylor One part talking about how good he is, 3 parts trying to sell him to Chelsea and talking about how his head has been turned.

Rayvin 5889
Is Rodri the best player in the world right now? I can sort of see some argument based on CL victory and how shite they've been without him but... idk.

He’s a rolls Royce of a defensive centre mid, the closest you can get to Busquets but bigger, stronger and better in the air. He’s immense
