You can't publicly label someone the "best" and "only" person for a role, publicly insult the holder of his contract, then expect to come to the negotiating table and make demands. Some are also operating under the delusion that it's 'small time' of us to demand a fee and keep him to his contractually obligated gardening leave.

Aye, he never really lived up to that fee at Spurs. Prime (NUFC) Sissoko in a Howe midfield would be an interesting player though as he was a fucking beast of an athlete. Him and Joelinton either side of Bruno could have caused carnage.

I wouldn't label Ashworth a useless suit, but their actions reek of a complete and utter lack of self awareness combined with delusions of their own grandeur. They got what they deserved and it's very likely that in doing so they've provided us with the unforeseen revenue stream that will soften the blow of not qualifying for the champions league. They can somehow afford to continually spunk big money despite them being quite likely to also miss out on the big show next season.
