Btw, the performance by the U21s last night didn’t exactly fill me with optimism in regards to the academy production line. I know Neave wasn’t in the squad because he was on the bench v West Ham and Kuol was rested too but I’d be surprised if many of them played much above Heaton Stan’s level (8th tier) let alone made it anyway near the first team. The goalkeeper looked decent and wasn’t at fault for any of the goals though.

Are they all still playing a level above where they should be? Sure we put the 18 year olds into the U21s to give them more of a challenge but no idea if that’s still the case. Saying that, Kuol has to be about 20/21 now

I don’t really see any of their games so don’t know to be honest. The had some big lads like but Heaton Stan bested them physically without needing to resort to dirty play. One of the U21s was deservedly sent off for two yellows. They also had a small lad upfront so it didn’t really say a lot for the quality of the two centre halves who kept playing long balls to him. Especially as it would’ve been his vinous after doing it a couple of times he wasn’t going to get any change out of Capewell who plays at the back for HS. Nobody in the middle of the park looked to be able to put their foot in the ball and control the game. A bit of pace on the wings and the keeper looked good and that’s about it. Alfie Harrison did nowt when he came on.

I’ve no doubt you’re right about them being shit tbh. Just was wondering if you could excuse a bit of the physical side of it. I think it’s the crop at the U18 level and below that are more highly rated but I’ll be amazed if we see more than 2/3 of them get their game for us going forward

The old magpie when referring to NUFC in the chronicle etc would have a tab in it's mouth, had nothing to do with monty magpie. I had a framed picture on my wall with the old castle/magpie badge in the middle, with two waistcoat wearing magpies either side of it with top hats on, tab in their beaks with 1882 on it before they invented 1892 in the 90s.

Tattoo dated 1982. Monty definitely smoking summat, sadly age has withered this magnificent artwork so cannot confirm tab or cigar

The magpie used to be depicted in the chronicle or maybe the pink looking pissed off with his arms folded and the caption ‘why are we waiting?’ in the sack the board era. 
I also just laughed out loud at the idea of Monty the Magpie having a tab hanging out of his mouth because that would have been fucking brilliant
