Interesting that there were reports in the Athletic of Ashworth saying that if he'd known Staveley was going to leave, he would have stayed. Suggests she was maybe a bit too involved - the fact she kept stepping in to get contract discussions over the line, and seemed to be heavily involved in transfer windows was maybe a problem.

Don't think he's a great loss but there's probably some truth there, which is what Mitchell was intimating.

All depends who we would have missed out on had she not got heavily involved in transfers.

Reminds me of the story when Leeds bought Seth Johnson. He went in to see Peter Ridsdale with his agent and wanted £20k a week. They go in Peter said something like 'you're not getting more than £30k a week take it or leave it' they both looked stunned so he says 'OK £40k' basically that was his negotiations and that's how he fucked Leeds over.

Not screwing up PSR probably means no Gordon, Livramento and Hall…. unless we’d been canny sellers in the summer of 2023…. you can reel off the names you’d be happy to see the back of but as we saw  last season you need a squad of 25+….

Or maybe just no Barnes, a signing I still don't understand.

its 3 from those four without sales if we were putting say 10 mill down on each. Was it 30 mill we were short? Something like that. So we’d have had to raise that 30 mill by selling Longy, Miggy, Murphy etc etc… my point is the squad going into a champions league season would’ve been woefully short on numbers. And the same people whingeing about how shit we were round Christmas last year would’ve been moaning how shit we were in September :cuppa:
