Guy I work with supports West Brom, poor bastard I warned him about the Cabbage and it only took 6 weeks for him to believe me, I digress, he sent me this link for a Baggies fans podcast and they interview Dan Ashworth.
I haven't listen to it yet but he claims it's a decent listen, so I thought I'd pass it on for those interested.

£20m for 5 months

Athletic claims we let him go for £3-4m which I think is what Ratcliffe wants the world to believe.

It’ll be interesting to see their published accounts. It’s being reported as £2-3m in some places. I mean if they’re saying that in articles it’s not an exact number so it just sounds like something they’ve been fed from the club. I doubt it was £20m but if it was as low as Radcliffe would like us to think then I think the owners would have just as soon took the hit and kept him on gardening leave. He’ll have received a decent settlement too presumably. Wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing’s cost more than £10m.

There's zero chance the figure leaked to the press by ManU is accurate. They had massive motivation to try and save face after Ratcliffe went off like an unhinged loon complaining about having to pay for Ashworth at all.

Ashworth has gone from looking unloyal, to idiotic, to incompetent in the space of a year. And all from a starting position where it seemed many were willing to accept that the glint of incoming silverware shone directly out of his arsehole. What a catastrophically delicious fall from grace. This rivals that Kone 2012 cunt. And he had a masturbate at an intersection in broad daylight to achieve his downfall. Having this kind of sense for self-destruction without a penchant for sexual depravity is virtually unheard of. Bravo!

Remember Ratcliffe getting all shitty because we weren’t allowing him to just work? Fuck me, I think he spent longer on gardening leave than he did in role

Being objective, he IS good at what he does, but it only succeeds if he has absolute autonomy. It’s clear Amanda and Mehrdad weren’t giving him that at NUFC and I bet it was ten times worse at OT!! It worked at Brighton and West Brom but they’re both smaller entities without too many cooks. Evidences to me that the model doesn’t work at bigger clubs which is more about the idea, than the person. Can see him heading back to the FA tbh - he’ll certainly not get another big club.

It seems very odd to sack him though after five months. It looks to me like it’s more to do with personalities rather than the results of his work. Ratcliffe was talking recently about the need for data led recruitment. Well if that’s the plan then Ashworth pretty much pioneered it in England.

Regarding his next role, are Arsenal still looking a replacement for Edu?

Seen a fair bit of speculation that the Brighton success doesn’t have that much to do with him. He wasn’t there that long. As I’ve mentioned before, considering his sort of role is about the medium and long term as much as the present, he doesn’t seem to hang around places long enough for that to come to be properly assessed. Also, wasn’t he behind Allardyce getting the England job? The more I hear about him the more I think he talks a good game

I suppose you'd want the cost as high as possible from a psr perspective, but you just know man utd will claim it was unexpected horticultural costs due to covid, and richard masters will say aye ok.
