Bruno is definitely not the midfielder for you if you want legs. How about Longstaff?

I know that foul in the box against Leicester looked bad, but I didn't realise Bruno had to have both legs amputated as a result. Thoughts and prayers.

It's difficult, but you've got a huge, huge pull. Pep, Loads of quality teammates, tonnes of cash and all that jazz. You'll not be hampered by PSR either.

How much of that pull will be dampened by the ongoing financial stuff. Could sign for Champions League and end up in the Championship.

Bruno for example is happy and settled here, he could jump to City but then in 6 months potentially (if City heavily sanctioned) be looking at another move to somewhere he wouldn’t have considered leaving us for.

That might cross their minds for sure. But City will have a good idea how the IC went so assuming it went well will let on as much. Personally i think we'll be fine. Although rival fans will never believe it. Hopefully we win and get a points addition in lieu of compensation, just enough to win the title.   Or better still all those that said we're cheats get a 'massive' point deduction. relegating some of the red cartel. Shhh its christmas i can dream.

@RealTolmie thinks we'll make a move on Bruno but move on quickly dependent on your response.

It reads like a punt but he has history as a city ITK. He's been on bluemoon forever.  I angled this screenshot to include his decent credentials and his actual post below.

If I was being particularly unseasonal I’d suggest any association with Alan Nixon would render him null and void as anywhere near reliable but I bow to your superior knowledge @LondonBlue :D

EDIT: Trautmann’s grandson and his mum worked at Maine Road for 30 years?… he’s basically Man City royalty 🤴

Sorry but City generally don't pay over the odds for players and we have our own season to turn around, what's in it for NUFC, probably not enough.

not saying he's knows everything, but he's not a know nowt. feels like he'd have some contacts. but do the contacts know owt?  he had early intel on the goings on in the messi mess. messi basically agreed, but barca backed down on a gentlemans agreement (as i remember it)

oh and unseasoned is great phrasing.

yeah i did wonder what players we could possible offer in exchange. we're all injured. maybe newcastle have their eye on one or two of our kids. who knows. maybe nothing and we move on.

If Bruno wants to go, and I can't imagine why he wouldn't, he'll go. Whether we let it happen in January is another matter, but once someone big comes in and the player's head is turned it's usually the beginning of the end.

IF it happens i'll have to give this forum a wide berth until  emotions settle

True that but January, meh, why would we unless it is more than worth it to everyone?

Let's be honest, it won't be worth it for a team currently sitting in 12th, hoping to make Europe next season. Bruno will be gone in the summer but not to Citeh for the paltry sum they want to pay.

If you give us £100m for him then I am fairly certain we'll be a forgiving bunch. If your lot try a protracted bullshit negotiation starting at like £50m I'd probably just delete your account

He’s entirely the wrong kind of midfielder for Man City imo, they have plenty of slow, ball playing midfielders.

If they need someone with legs he definitely isn’t the one.

The mental thing is I think we have the perfect player on our books for them in Tonali - we and they just haven't seen enough of him in the prem yet to see how perfect.

it think we'll make an offer of X. if you turn it down we'll move on without a follow up bid. If you say how about X + Y we'll consider that and if it's wrong move on.

city don't have time to waste.

my best guess is 75.

yes we need legs with rodri out and gundo done but neither rodri nor gundo were ever exactly speedy.

for me, we need a 6 and an 8.  also all city players need good close ball control.

i personally have no idea if Bruno is right for us but he usually looks decent the few times i've watched him.

I think we’d be massively tempted at £75m like, especially if the player wants the move (which I’d guess he would).

I think that gets us our RW as well as our long term Schar replacement and possibly even the upgrade in goal we need.

You get a prem proven midfielder and we improve the quality of our overall squad which might help settle the itchy feet of some of our other prized assets for a spell.

I don't think you've a strong negotiating position.

Bruno would fill a position where you're clearly weak

This is a season where you're doing very badly and need to turn things around with a statement signing or whatever

Bruno is one of our best players (and captain if that makes any difference at all)

We're having an average-to-poor season ourselves, selling Bruno would be awful optics

The more protracted the negotiation is, the more desperate you would surely become?

If you come in with anything other than a head turning offer of £100m, I'd hope we'd immediately bat it away.

i feel fairly confident that there won't be a protracted negotiation. we don't have the time. i suspect we will approach a select few candidates at the same time. complete one or two and declare (or fail to get any targets)

if we fail with our first choice targets i hope we don't slip too far down the list...  bellingham? nope. Rice? nope. Phillips? Yes we've put him in a taxi, hes' on his way now.

It already looks like Mitchell shit the bed last summer, he would be full aware of how under scrutiny he is.

And unless he had a guaranteed replacement and/or statement signing already in the bag, his job would be untenable.
