i'm really unsure about january. we have a huge war chest. only brighton have more psr leeway i think. but i think players are too expensive right now.

Our new director of football Hugo Viana might have some interesting summer ideas. I'd keep the war chest for him .

In peps first season, the full backs were the issue. we splashed money across the back line and improved massively. We can see a similar vulnerability now. I've always said hit us with pace and directness and we're vulnerable. and i believe that is showing this season. I think we'll have a defensive rebuild.

who are the other two? i'm guessing Isak and ?

I am sure @ewerk or @The Fish can point out how much they have in credit?

I suppose your spending will depend if you're still in the CL.

Lads, he reckons he's not being cheeky!

I can practically HEAR the silent extra question marks.

No to be honest i just completely forgot about him then i googled you're best 3 this year and literally thought "oh fuck they're not going to let me get away with forgetting him"

Do i need to contact Lord Pannick to sort my defense? Nah i'll do it myself. I'm very nearly 60 and my memory, along with many other things, is shot.

to be honest, post Rodri i reset my hopes for City this year to CL qualification. I'm not greedy. After all, once upon a time that was the dream.

Notice how the media have only really spoke about Rodri being your injury?

Nothing about others.  Yet if it was the wall pushers, fuck me, it would be in the Kings Speech.

not many players have moved directly between city and united. Shay Given, Joey Barton, Antoine Sibierski, Steve Howey. think that's it for players i remember. probably a fair few kids.

but they were before our owners were from rival countries.

a few others have played for both clubs i reckon, like Peter Beardsley, James Milner and Andy Cole

Botman, Bruno and Isak are the blue chip players for me. I would have included Trippier in that pre age decline/divorce.

Gordon is a level below them and Tonali has done nothing of note at NUFC. He'll probably end up winning a CL with a team on the continent but he can't displace Longstaff so im not holding my breath he makes it here.

I would agree with them.  Gordon certainly has the potential.  Sandro, not see enough of him to call yet.  But, he can displace Longstaff and the two games he played a deeper role our midfield looked a lot better.

Gordon isn't a good enough finisher (at the moment) to be elite.  Tonali has had 5 months to make an impression. He might well end up elite but im suggesting it won't be here.

Or maybe our definition of a blue chip player is different. Bruno, Isak and Botman (pre-injury) wouldn't look out of place in the Real Madrid team.

Sandro has played 27 games for the club.  I think it's premature to rule him out of being decent for us.  He's played 15 times for us this season, in a team that hardly anyone can hold their head high enough.

Also this may help.

Potential doesn't make them blue chip players now. I'm not sure if you're referring to Gordon or Tonali here..

I think your constant battles with LTA have perhaps subconsciously elevated Gordon higher than his actual ability. You need to be knocking in 15 goals a season regularly from that position to be world class (imo).

For reference, I love Tonali. His work ethic is spot on and he is obviously very talented.  I just don't think many Italians make it as legends in the PL.

I fully understand potential.  Hence why I am agreeing that Gordon isn't a blue chip player NOW.  But IMO I think he has the potential TO BE a blue chip player for us.  Hence why I said POTENTIAL.

Sandro, I don't know if he has, but I am not dismissing him.  I have seen more of Gordon, especially playing in a team that a) has a plan and b) playing with some confidence.  Maybe I am interpreting you wrongly, but IMO you're dismissing him, because Longstaff displaces him.  But recently when Sandro has played a deeper role and we have pushed Bruno up we have looked better and Sandro has looked a lot better than Longstaff has.  He passes better, moves better and doesn't break up play by just giving fouls away.
