You’re still continuing with this?

RCB- Schar

RCB - Lascelles

RCB - Krafu

LCB - Botman

LCB - Burn

LCB-  Kelly

LCB - Alex Murphy (at a push)

Kelly might not even make the bench when all CBs are fit.

Barnes is injured now. Gordon is being kept on the left as he is wasted on the right.  Miggy has been getting more game time recently because Eddie has worked out everyone he has tried on the RW has unbalanced us.

That’s me done explaining the logic. I’ll let the brains at NUFC decide our fate.

Factor in ages/contract length and that logic flies out the window in terms of a squad with any longevity.

It’s possible Kelly is seen as Burns natural successor and Lascelles probably won’t get another year on his contract.  Only Big Mitch knows this though but as we were after Tosin and Guehi then I think further additions will come in a CB in the future.

age is a factor but it's a numbers game. we have bodies at CB in reserve - players happy to play in that position. we don't have any rotation options at RW if miggy goes who have shown they want to play in that position or who can perform to the required level.

i'm all for selling miggy too, but failing to replace him is a big gamble.

Howe has found the winning formula, so unbalancing the team again (eg playing Gordon or Big Joe on the RW) would be counter productive.

Some talk around Timori at Milan being available.

On RW we have options that can get us by.  Almiron has played 148' of football in the PL this season, avg of 7' a game.  So can we do without him?  Yes, he's gone.  That should be clear to most.

I mean St James park pitch is 345’ and he must have at least run the length of that this season.

imo you can never have too many CB's

playing 4 CB's works so they provide complete defensive cover ( i remember when we won the war, sorry the CL we often played with 4 CB's pushing Stones into midfield and further )

and it's all too easy for them to get injured given their position.

we've had Stones, Akanji, Dias and Ake injured most of the season plus Walker who seems done. so it can happen if you're not careful.

last time we had a situation like this we had just let Kompany retire when Laporte got a season long injury and hey presto, Liverpool won the league.

my point is, don't be too eager to let quality CBs leave

You have totally ignored an ACL of Lacellles and his age,
You have totally ignored Botman has just come back from an ACL
You are really adding Alex Murphy to this?  He played 11 minutes in PL football last season when we were down to the bare bones man.  So removing Kelly would see him do that.

Krafth isn't a CB.  Yes he's done a job there every now and then mostly out of necessity due to injuries, but you cannot say he's a CB.

'Miggy has been getting more game time recently'

Over the festive (Lets say whole of December to NJY) period, i.e the busiest part of the season he has played 46' of football over 7 games of football.  So is he really getting more game time?  Even if we add in the 84' against Bromley where he did what?  That's not exactly him 'getting more game time' with an avg of 16 minutes.

it has ended. I didn’t even bother reading his reply. It smelled like a TheFish’s style post.

I’m not sure Kelly is classed as a quality CB from within our fan base.

Ironically, I think he’ll come good if he ever gets a run in the team.

we said that about Cole Palmer

we let him go for the money and to open a pathway for Oscar Bobb

I've given up with the we must do this or that. well i'm trying to give it up

I’m just hoping that we see Sanusi promoted to the bench instead of Howe putting two keepers on there

It's always made me wonder why he has never done this.  Even if they have no chance of getting on, it will give them confidence and a lift.  Maybe Howe thinks having senior players like Gillespie are more worthwhile for the other lads.  I.e terms of support etc.

I think Kelly is seen as cover for LCB and LB and little more, he may surprise  us and push for a start but he’s cover for two positions in one body. You need players like that.

If we get the offer we seemingly have for Miggy the club will do what they think is best and they usually do ok, fwiw, I'll be amazed if they don't sell him, take the transfer fee and use his wages for somebody else either now or summer whichever works out the best for availability.
