Wilson is clearly staying, possibly forced by his current injury, so that means we need a third choice striker. We aren't going to spend £40m on a third choice striker and a player of that calibre wouldn't come to play third choice. Not being in Europe makes that even more certain. So we have to be looking at a prospect. Admittedly this lad's goal scoring hasn't been dynamite so far but he's been playing in an awful team at a very young age. We (and apparently Liverpool who have also looked at him) must have seen something, we aren't in the business of signing shite for the sake of it anymore.
