I honestly think, due to the lack anything solid, people have just made up the 3.5 year thing to generate hits. Especially as it’s yet another window where FSR has meant there’s not a lot happening. You would think 4.5 years would be the minimum length of the contract Given the contract length governs the amortisation of the fee, based on the Amazon doc and the haggling, I'd be amazed if it was not 5 years tbh. 3.5 years v 5 years is £3.5mill a year difference on £40 mill fee.

Isak signed a 6 year contract that summer, so I reckon 5.5 years. Both will finish at the same time I'd imagine.

Polarboy 2317
Man City with a load of money burning a hole in their pocket probably isn't a good thing. Bruno saying how much he loves it at the club has allayed some fears, but money talks at the end of the day. Hopefully they'll be looking for a direct replacement for Alvarez as opposed to putting the money into midfield.
Gemmill 49696
Man City have always got money burning a hole in their pocket. I think if they wanted Bruno, they'd have come and taken him off our hands in time for pre-season, not with a week and a half to go before the season starts. Particularly for such an integral position.

Kid Dynamite 7601
Sounds like Spurs are paying Solanke's £65mil release clause. 27 next month and had 1 good season in the premier league. Another deal that makes £65mil for Guehi seem cheap
wackyjunior 40
I was reading their forum last night and you'd think they had Ashley in charge. A few noy happy with Solanke simply because they think if he doesn't work they'll be saddled with him and won't replace him.
Polarboy 2317
An Italian journo with a sizeable social media following has confirmed that Gonzalez is meeting the Fiorentina bosses today to tell them he wants to leave. Us, Juve, and another club are named as being interested. Supposedly Fiorentina and Juve hate each other, so perhaps that will help us should we go for him. Baggio is the third reason given for the rivalry on wiki: ACF Fiorentina–Juventus FC rivalry - Wikipedia Quote They wished to renew the contract of local star, Federico Bernardeschi, but he was unwilling to renew his deal with Fiorentina and instead secured a transfer to rivals Juventus for €40 million on a five-year deal.[10][11] Fans responded with vulgar banners saying "A chi non piacerebbe sputarti in faccia... Bernardeschi gobbo di merda", which translates to "Who wouldn't like to spit in your face, Bernardeschi you shitty hunchback".

Howmanheyman 36429
I've read 'Calcio' by John Foot and he did mention that rivalry but there's that many rivalries, vendettas, bribery and scandals in the history of Italian football you simply can't remember them all!
Kid Dynamite 7601
"If" we managed to sign Guehi and Gonzalez for the first team, and Osula and Kelly for backup, then that's a mint window tbf.
Polarboy 2317
According to Joel Bland we've stuck another bid in for Guehi this lunchtime. Of course it's very easy to say that and not be called out given everyone is aware that negotiations are ongoing.

If we can manage to shift on the deadwood along with the likely departure of Trips and possibly Miggy too that should free up the wages we'd need for these too so we'd be in a half decent position heading into September. Diego21 2155
Nico Gonzalez is one of my favourite players. I think he would excel in any team in Italy or Spain. I have been saying for years that he is perfect for Simeone's Atleti system (so he is perfect for Howe's style as well). I hope that, if he comes, he can adapt to the pace of the Premier League. He is a very strong player, very fast. Originally a centre forward, but when he came to Europe (at Stuttgart) he started to play as a second striker or even as a winger and he did very well. In my opinion, his best position is close to a striker. I think he could be a very good option for the right wing. He is a player who scores a lot of goals. Regarding the relationship between Juventus and Fiorentina, there is a circumstance. Many Fiorentina players end up playing for Juve. Baggio was the most famous case, but recently we have had Bernardeschi, Vlahovic and Chiesa. The fact is that a few years ago, Fiorentina has a new president. And, interestingly, the president is a Juventus fan, but he has been firmly opposed to selling players to Juventus. The Chiesa deal was already done when he arrived, and he couldn't do anything to sell Vlahovic because the player only wanted to go there. I understand that players, especially Italian ones, might prefer to go to Juventus because it's the biggest team in the country they're already in.

Alex 36647
One of the main reasons Baggio went to Juve was because, iirc, the stadium renovations for Italia 90 for Fiorentina which spiralled out of control. It’s basically like a national monument, so it was inconceivable they relocated. Florentine pride also meant it was inconceivable that the stadium wouldn’t host World Cup matches. To improve the capacity they lowered the pitch and removed the running track. Baggio was sold to help pay for it. They already hated Juve but it was a particularly bitter blow for the fans at the time. Especially as the team didn’t really get anything out of, as the money was already spent

A few years ago, he revealed that he never wanted to leave Fiorentina, but that they sold him without giving him the option because of the issue you mentioned. And that he never had the option to decide.
