We could just accept £7m for Ashworth and that takes us to the £40m mark

Two issues there being that we were never offered 7 million and that we're more than 7 million shy of the mark.

Great idea otherwise.

Mental that we've let this go this close to the wire without signing a dustbin sponsor for £15mil

We probably tried but it wasn’t deemed to be fair value unlike a bucket at Old Trafford to collect rain water which would be worth 100m.

Miley aside, that's our 2 brightest young players been sold in the same day.

I appreciate they both offer the biggest profit, but still feels like a sad day when they likes of Targett, Almiron, Wilson, Trippier, Hayden, Longstaff, Ashby, Krafth etc are still here (for now)

If we don’t plug the £44m gap we’ll get a points deduction.

If we sell Minteh & Anderson for £44m we’ll escape any punishment.

If we sell Minteh, Anderson and Wilson for over £44m then the PL should actually reward us with points.

In the grand scheme of things this is the best we could have hoped for. Selling lads that probably won't have been first team regulars next season.

While unfortunate and PSR can truly feck off, most people would have understood this. The scare with Isak and Gordon was not required :huff:

The whole business is ridiculous and taking a lot of joy out of football for me. It’s ok trying to stop clubs just "buying" success, but basically forcing clubs with enough money to sell players just to comply with arbitrary regulations is plain bollocks.

So we need to sell a prodigy like Anderson or an untried talent like Minteh in time of an arbitrary deadline just to probably be able to spunk absurd money on another player in the upcoming weeks. That’s without thinking about us needing to consider to sell untouchable assets to big six rivals.

I am done with this. I unfollowed all journalists and won’t care about transfers. I will see what players will be there in August and then hopefully start to enjoy watching matches. But there is no excitement left thinking about how we will build a decent squad.

Meh. Fuck off.

The whole system stinks.

It's a fucking joke that has to boilover eventually.

However we've come out of it OK IMO. Anderson is hardworking and talented and whilst it sucks to see him go he'd have been unlikely to have got much playing time this season unless we were hit with a similar injury crisis to last season (perhaps worse because Tonali is back). He hasn't yet realised the potential he has shown and would have been unlikely to with limited time on the pitch.

Minteh, it would have been great to bring him in, exactly why you try to sign and develop the best and brightest youth talent but not to be.

We have to ride out a few more seasons like this but as our profile grows and our youth investment continues we'll find ourselves able to sell more effectively with less impact on the first team. And anyone we sign will be youngish and on lengthy contracts.

Yeah, if you park whatever we think about the players who need to be sold to comply with this nonsense, you have to feel for Anderson. He’s just broken through into the first team squad of his hometown club, was injured for most do the season then just as he started to get a few games the club are forced to sell him to “balance the books”. Bullshit

He never scored for us.

44 league games, 7 cup games and he never got a goal.

Youd be gutted wouldnt you?

he was robbed of a perfectly legitimate header by VAR wasn’t he? The other thing killing the game

We can probably do without him but they probably robbed a player from fulfilling his dream. Bollocks.

100%. even if he’d only hung around for a few seasons as a bits and pieces squad player like longstaff. We’ll never know now. I hope the move works out for him

Agree, that's absolutely the worst part of it especially as we have such a tight knit squad. But as I said honestly he was not likely to see much time on the pitch next season with our reduced game count. Ridiculously even if we did qualify for Europe we'd still have had to sell him and then buy players to fill out the squad.

He scored in some quite competitive pre-season games in front of good crowds so there's that at least. Just about single handedly won the game for us IIRC.
