Holden McGroin 7505
If we add very well in the January window and stay injury free this could be a better opportunity to break into the elite than if we finish 6/7th and get europa spot next season. We have a high intensity game which tires players out so if we are playing Thurs in Turkey and Sunday at Bournemouth we'd need a big squad. The Fish 11313
Well we've got that Kuol coming in in January, we've been signing for the youth team and apparently we're signing some 18yr old from Brazil. Dunno if he'll have sufficient points on his visa to be available for the second half of this season or if he, like Kuol, will be shunted out on loan somewhere European. Spurs were in a piss with Conte for being 3rd, and are in a sour piss still being 3rd - after being beaten. Next season we are not 2/3 players away from being proper scary, we are 5ish players into the side so we don't have to rely on 15-20+ games from Championship level players like Dummett/Murphy/Manquillo/Krath/Lascelles/Darlow/Fraser/Wood. We may be in top 4, but the season isn't over, less than a third in - and Paul Dummett is still registered to play. I love the excitement, but I hate seeing the the 'one-hand-on-throphy' mentality some fans have, especially the arrogance it's given with. Love the fact we are 4th! It's ours to throw away regarding contention, but I don't think we can be 4th after 38 games. Longer we are 4th, the longer we have a shot, and if we do fall off, we get Europe. Top 10 was my goal this season! Don't disagree with much of that but I don't think we will finish 4th or win anything over the next couple of years. I don't think most fans do, we're probably just enjoying the fact we're mixing it with the big boys now and playing actual football again. Personally I haven't even thought much about things like when we could possibly win a tropy or mount a title challenge, I'm just looking forward to next Saturday. We've visibly rattled the top 4 this season already, with a very limited squad, you think adding a couple of quality players will not add to the knicker quivering? They're already talking about a big 7. They tried hard to stop the takeover. They are SCARED. If or when we win a bunch of trophies is a not a directly related function. Life is short, enjoy the little moments mate.

ewerk 33021
I can't see Brighton selling for £30m though in the January window. They'd likely still get that for him in the summer window if he refuses to sign a contract so unless he absolutely downs tools then why would they sell? Gemmill 49630
Brighton have this thing where they always let people hold talks when someone comes in for them, don't they? So if Trossard shows makes it clear he want to leave, they might be vaguely sensible in valuation. Who knows though, they've been completely bent over by Boehly, so maybe they need to rethink this policy.
Ayatollah Hermione 14618
Brighton will have someone lined up to replace him tbh. That Japanese kid (can’t remember his name, I’m not being racist) looks quality and plays in a similar role
ewerk 33021
Aye, he looked decent when he came on against us. Fuck it, sign them both.
tinofbeans 91
Trossard is absolutely the level we need for our squad. my worry is lack of a controlling midfielder, outside of Bruno and a defensive midfielder or regista (think Lobotka at Napoli or the fulham central defensive midfielder)
wykikitoon 22668
Would this be a signing to replace ASM?
ewerk 33021
Pretty much how I'd see it. You can (and we have) argue about whether he's prepared to put in the work required of an Eddie Howe player but his fitness record this season has been abysmal and hasn't been much better in previous seasons.
Holden McGroin 7505
Think he only has 18 months left on his contract so they might be consider it.
The Fish 11313
Also, we need several players of good or great quality if we want to compete on multiple fronts. Trossard doesn't have to be a replacement for ASM, it might be that's he's a target to provide competition?
Craig 6799
Trossard has been pretty immense for Brighton this season. He'd be an inspired signing.

If we’re going for a Europa league place at least then it’s a sort of “self fulfilling prophecy”…if potential signings are told that this is the case, they can see our league position and how we’ve played, then we tell them the cup will be taken seriously then I think good players like him will be persuaded. Then European football looks more likely and more achievable. Which means we’ll need a bigger squad, which is literally what we’ll be doing in January, with the added bonus of 5 months bedding in at the club for the new players before next season’s assault on the top three I saw Trossard being interviewed at the weekend, he looks about 12 but he’s got grey hair

ewerk 33021
On a minor note, I see Fernandez has played just one game for bottom of the table Elche since his move. I'm not sure what the craic is with him but another call that Eddie Howe got right when some were doubting him.
ewerk 33021
Given Almiron's form I think a LW is more of a priority. Murphy wasn't great yesterday, ASM's form hasn't been brilliant when fit and I'd like to see Joelinton back in the centre of the park.

I'd still like us to sign Maddison because he can play centrally and out on the right. The priority for me is the base of the midfield three though. I want Bruno closer to the business end of the pitch. It's not sexy, but someone in the Tiote mould would be great.
Holden McGroin 7505
Tripper is so important to the team I'd seriously look at someone who can cover him and both full back positions. In the ilk of Cancelo.
