Does anyone know how much more we can spend under FFP this window. What I'm thinking is if the  budget allowed & we could get Cornett, Werner & Maddison or Barnes. We would have a cracking team. Plus future investment would only probably involve 1 or 2 players in a window. But what do I know

Think the take away from this thread is that Fofana has signed a new contract with Leicester and as we know Maddison is in the last two years of his, also as someone mentioned they’re not getting 60 mill(?) for him after this summer, add to that they’re apparently only selling one of them ….. I think there’s a good chance he’s coming to SJP…

Not signing another forward player or two would be underwhelming IMO. Maybe I’m greedy but they started with a bang with the window in January. We can probably get through to the next January window with the midfielders and wingers on the books but we’re crying out for a new CF, even if it’s a stopgap loan. Wilson could break down against Forest then we’re stuck with Wood as our only striker for half a season. I don’t think these owners are going to risk that happening.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to happen either, but if it did I'd just shrug and trust them that it would get sorted soon enough. I'm enjoying having professionals in charge

According to Romano Chelsea have hijacked Man City's bid for Cucurella. Cucurella is a left back of course, but a defensive minded one, so I could easily see him playing on the left of back three given Tuchel favours playing with a three and then wingbacks. So if Chelsea smash 50m on Cucurella I can't see them going after Fofana as well.

He just tweeted this

So it looks like Chelsea do actually want Cucurella plus a centre back, so Fofana could be someone they go after. Having said that it's hard to judge who'd be more likely to blink first between Leicester and Leipzig for their star centre backs.

Just seen it pointed out that Rogers definitively said Fofana isn't for sale, as opposed to his more noncommittal answer on Maddison.

Because most clubs do, nowt unusual at all

We aren’t supposed to be most clubs. Ashley definitely had a period where he insisted we paid all fees up front.

Even the current top clubs like Liverpool, Citeh and Chelsea use staggered payments, and we're nowhere near them in terms of advertising revenue from which we can supplement our transfer kitty. It's going to take years to build the commercial end of things, but hopefully Darren Eales will work his magic.

Chicken nonce trying to piss in everybody's cornflakes as per with the last line. Unfortunately he could be correct.

If we manage to get him for £45m it’s another brilliant bit of business. Suspect it might have to be north of £50m

The inevitability of our business is what strikes me from the way we're moving. We have actual irons in the fire instead of imaginary ones. We won't be held to ransom, but when our interest is genuine we'll have genuine offers on the table. Even if our top targets aren't immediately obtained we've established a line of communication that gives us an upper hand in future negotiations. Take Maddison for example, he's now aware of our interest. Fast forward to January or next summer and with his contract nearing its final year he'll have a choice to make; re-sign with Leiecester who are on a flat or potentially downwards trajectory, go to Newcastle who are on the up with a view to lasting success or go elsewhere entirely. You're more likely to go with a known admirer if they have continued to grow than to take a chance elsewhere.

We will sign some attacking players before the window closes, of that I am sure.

That's what we've done with Botman, so you could be spot on there.

to get past FFP

Especially knowing that we'll have vastly improved sponsorship and corporate income in seasons to come.

Payment terms have nothing to do with FFP.

Is that entirely accounted for under ammortisation?
