Agreed. I think people are forgetting how hard it was competing across four competitions last time. We can't flog Isak through all of that, so DCL as a third choice striker makes a lot of sense.

 

He won't be commanding a massive wage either cos of his injury record.

he's the sort of player who could come off the bench to see a game out or play in the early rounds of the cup competitions. he's not going to be challenging Isak fora starting spot in important games in the way someone like ekitke might

Nah I don't think he is but then he's been injured since the end of January so who knows if Moyes would have given him the nod.

It's always possible with a striker. I reckon its possible Wilson still thinks he should be starting judging by his recent huff-infused performances. And we should never forget that Nicolas Bendner thought he was the best player in the world.

 

In my opinion, it all comes down to wages for DCL. If we could pay him 2nd/3rd striker wages then it's an interesting prospect. After that, if it doesn't work, then sell him to Juventus in January. Happy days.

I like the idea of DCL coming on when we’re struggling to break teams down and just knocking it long to a target man. He’ll also be a threat from set pieces under Howe’s management, you’d think. If he can stay fit, it’s a better back up striker than a lot of the league have IMO

Delap for £30m, Hujsen for £50m, Cunha for £63m, not a bad window that.

There are obviously many better strikers out there than DCL but part of our problem, if we are signing a new number 9, is we have one of the best strikers in the world so any replacement for Wilson will have to be happy playing second fiddle.

 

Its why I’d like us to see us get someone like Ekitike or Mbemo - or some other RW I’ e never heard of who can also cover CF effectively when Isak is injured or tired
