Why would they leave if they finish in the champions league spots though? It’s a bit like us with Isak. They won’t have to get rid of any of them unless the players agitate for a move and they can demand stupid money in that case.

Aren't they supposed to flying close to PSR again?

I think the last point is where the challenge lies. Forest have been close to the wire in terms of PSR (crossed it last season) so it wouldn't at all surprise me if clubs with deep pockets who are currently not performing come in with daft offers to tempt them.

Leicester won the league in 2016 but key players of that squad moved on in the summer - most notably Kante. Forest will have similar challenges I don't doubt.

It’s a bag of shite if that is the case: best finish in generations and forced to sell. Bit like Villa with Douglas Luiz, I suppose

Yeah but isn't that the fundamental issue with football finance and PSR as a whole? The system is setup to protect those sat at the financial top table and fuck over anyone who dares to try and reach those heights.

None of us want another Chelsea-like situation, but the mechanism as it is needs overhaul. It's far too restrictive.

The reward for on-field success is financial vultures coveting your talent and offering to fill your bank account to keep you from losing sleep over PSR. Completely wrong for me.

yeah, the system isn’t fit for purpose. And the £110m loss figure - or what ever it is - hasn’t been adjusted for inflation for years either. It’s a completely arbitrary line in the sand designed to protect the cartel.

On the plus side it has backfired to an extent by constraining spending at all clubs - other than Chelsea, who continue to brazenly flout the rules with their circular finance - which means that hopefully no cunt can afford Isak.

Its also put more of a focus on good coaching and recruitment and made for a more interesting league this season. So ffp rules in theory aren’t bad, but the way they’re implemented is bullshit

Playing devil's advocate, surely theory latest figures would mean that Chelsea could offer isak 300k a week and pay us £150m?

just got to finish above them in the league, and hopefully push them out of the CL places in the process.

You can be sure that all of this spending has not been done with an eye on them facing to make CL. If they can be kept out of it for a couple of years, they'll really start to have problems.

They are going to have problems anyway, they are making a huge actual loss on their initial investment and they are owned by hedge funds who need profit.

That’s what PSR is designed to do. Can’t have these interlopers ruining it for the big boys

Yes. I think their model assumes they can move on senior players on long term contracts like Mudryk for decent fees, and make a fat profit on some of the junior players they've been stockpiling. If they can't do that and there's no CL football, they'll have a huge wage bill, a bloated and disaffected squad, and not enough income to cover their losses. Here's hoping 🤞
