Just because Palace ensured that one played out in public doesn’t mean the other one didn’t happen. Most of our big deals since the takeover were done behind closed doors then announced at the last minute with most of the reporters in the dark.

Well then why the fuck did you spend last summer moaning about us putting all our eggs in one basket, if you're now so confident we were secretly trying to line up a host of RWs?

His decline is age related. It's not like it's a surprise.

Weird that the manager and DoF don't agree with you. But what do they know.

Aye, I've had enough of the know nowts on message boards pretending that Schar could go on at that level for another couple of years.

Schar is 32. We're signing his long term replacement probably 2 years before he's finished.

No one was complaining about schar during the winning run when we weren’t conceding goals. You could say the same about Murphy. But Murphy has always been this sort of player - capable of the occasional decent performance/run of form before going back to putting in stinkers. He’s a lot like Miggy - a squad player at best for a side who are targeting CL.

Schar has been imperious since the takeover and his decline is a recent one. Ideally he will be benched when Botman comes back. Botman’s stop-start return from injury and Lascelles’s struggle to recover on schedule has fucked us.

A new CB is needed but our failure to upgrade RW predates the takeover. We have Murphy, who should be a rotation option, starting games. It’s the squad’s obvious weak spot

Some of us were pointing out last summer that he needed replacing because of his age, lack of pace and likely drop off in performance, and here we are.

Yes RW needs addressing but it's still not #1 priority.

in your opinion. Plenty of people on here disagree.

we’ll find out what the club think in the summer.

I hope!

TBF, it's not just one position that is the specific problem, there are lots of issues that need to be addressed, along with competition for our star players because the only one out there last evening that could hold their head up high was Lewis Hall.

yes but if you think that will stop a group of middle aged blokes getting back into another round of “I was right, you were wrong”, think again

We saw what they thought last Summer, doubt anything's changed except that we should now have the ability to do both.

I've heard a rumour we're expected to go in for Mbeumo in the summer. I doubt he'll be up to Gloomy's standards either.

As for the priority, it remains what it was last summer. A centre back. Lascelles is 31 and recovering from an ACL. He wasn't the quickest to start with, he certainly won't be now. Burn isn't, for me, that far ahead of him and as others have said, Schar has dropped off.

Botman - absolutely the standard and age bracket we need to build on, but struggles with injury. Only 6 sides have scored more goals than us this season, only 10 have conceded more. Defence is absolutely the priority.

Ah I see Meldrew has joined forces with the swasticar driving veggie. Misery and lettuce, how daunting.

It’s like an 80s Hollywood cop/buddy movie gone wrong

(Tyne and Wear) Metro Goldtooth Slayer brings you…

NOSTRADAMUS AND THE NARK

Matthew Broderick is the preppy, smart arsed consistently and vehemently incorrect detective Nostradamus

Jack Palance is the hard bitten bent retired cop known as “the nark” who now just grasses anyone up from his trashy trailer park home, utterly without principle…

Not sure of the plot yet, am getting @Howmanheyman in as writer :D
