That knocks on to the whole team because everyone has to work harder to compensate, has a lot to do with why "they've all been pretty shit lately" IMO.

 

We need a pacey RCB desperately (as we have done for what feels like forever), because Botman isn't exactly rapid either (when fit).

 

I agree but I don’t think you can just pin that on the CBs.  The midfield has been off their game recently. 
 

On a side note, Tino is worrying me more and more every game. Defensively he is sound but going forward he offers nothing. His first touch needs a lot of work.

Aye, seems that way. If we are to believed the last two players we’ve publicly gone in for are Guehi and Khusanov.

Newsflash: Jacob Murphy still isn’t good enough to start at RW for a team with CL aspirations. He’s been awful the last few games now his Miggy style purple patch has fizzled out and our unfancied young reserve CF is now seemingly our second choice in that position. Barnes did a good impression of the invisible man when he played there against Forest. 
 

Schar’s drop over the last few weeks has been alarming. He’s been immense since the takeover but maybe age is catching up with him. This is the problem when the squad isn’t refreshed window after window - it grows out and it grows stale. 
 

The whole squad is a reminder of that tbh - we still starting Murphy, Schar and (until recently) Longstaff. Love these lads and I’d love them to sign off with a trophy but they’re Mike Ashley era players.

Listen, some of these lads know better than the manager and the DoF. I don't suppose it's occurred to them that JUST MAYBE, our very experienced manager could see the signs in Schar last year, and that's why he was so set on Guehi, while they were demanding a RW.

No one was complaining about schar during the winning run when we weren’t conceding goals. You could say the same about Murphy. But Murphy has always been this sort of player - capable of the occasional decent performance/run of form before going back to putting in stinkers. He’s a lot like Miggy - a squad player at best for a side who are targeting CL.
 

Schar has been imperious since the takeover and his decline is a recent one. Ideally he will be benched when Botman comes back. Botman’s stop-start return from injury and Lascelles’s struggle to recover on schedule has fucked us.
 

A new CB is needed but our failure to upgrade RW predates the takeover. We have Murphy, who should be a rotation option, starting games. It’s the squad’s obvious weak spot

TBF, it's not just one position that is the specific problem, there are lots of issues that need to be addressed, along with competition for our star players because the only one out there last evening that could hold their head up high was Lewis Hall.

Nobody wanted to lose them. It was a necessity which Howe accepted. We both know that the idea that Howe doesn't get a say in transfers is drivel. 

 

Also, Howe was the one pushing for Guehi last summer, that was very public.

Just because Palace ensured that one played out in public doesn’t mean the other one didn’t happen. Most of our big deals since the takeover were done behind closed doors then announced at the last minute with most of the reporters in the dark.
