Howe reportedly "furious" to lose Kelly, according to TBR Football

And no, I don't know who the fuck TBR Football are either

Oooo TBR Football.

I'm not giving them clicks but I'm gonna guess there isn't a single quote.

Totally agree that Almiron and Kelly werent offering anything so these are good deals we should have taken.

But with zero replacements? I'm not sure. Not even a loan for cover? If there's a couple of injuries we're in trouble. I think it's a risk considering we're sitting in a CL place and a cup semi.

If it's a buy option, then it ia cack deal for us because as you say, they can send him back and we are out a warm body that covers LB and LCB. Makes fuck all sense.

This is one we should knock back unless it's mental money.

As for this, Trips is someone we should be getting off the books asap, his legs are gone, he's on big money and he generally looks pissed off for whatever reason - personal life/not being first choice/not being allowed to go to Bayern this time last year.
I have more faith in Kelly doing a job than Trips these day.

Hope now reporting the £20m as an option. Makes a lot less sense if they can send him back once they see he's cack.

The actual article says it’s an obligation to buy rather than an option.

He’s fast becoming Miggy in an attacking sense. Everything grinds to a halt whenever he gets a hold of the ball. If he can’t deliver set pieces anymore then he offers nothing.

You can see exactly why Howe barely gives him a sniff these days. He was probably the most important transfer post-takeover because of his leadership on the pitch, and I am sure some of the transfers happened because we had a winner like him on board but he’s finished at this level now IMO. Tino pisses me off Maxi/Miggy style when he forgets he’s an England international, and trips over his own feet but his defensive work more than makes up for it. Especially, since we have Hall as the creative full back anyway.

Aye. It’s odd cos Tino started off looking good going forward and positionally suspect. Now he looks solid defensively but not very effective getting forward.

i think his touch (especially his first) needs a lot of work. I shit my pants when a ball goes up in the air to him when he last man.

Trippier is loads better technically and positionally than Tino but his legs have gone. They’re totally different players. Tino is a great athlete and his pace and energy on the recovery runs get him out of bother - a lot like Kyle Walker in that sense. He’s never going to be the most technical player - definitely lacks a bit of quality in the final third but he’s still young and will improve.

I think Trippier will be looked back upon as one of our best right backs of the premier league era, if not the best. He was absolutely class in his first couple of seasons. Shame we got him at the back end of his career but he was such an important signing for so many reasons.
