Dr Gloom 23065
If we sell Kelly and one of Targett or Longstaff without an incoming player, you have to ask wtf is going on? What kind of psr hole are we in exactly? Eddie will have been stiffed for the run in if these rumours are to be believed. These are all players that could be moved on if better quality was coming in but it leaves Howe horribly exposed for the rest of the season. We saw from the Fulham game that the squad is already thin. It’s not the first time this season when we looked even poorer after subs were made. I think we’d see Eddie make subs earlier in games if he had players on his bench he trusted better. Edited 8 hours ago by Dr Gloom

What kind of psr hole are we in exactly? It's about targets being available. We want good players. Good players aren't made available for sale by their teams in January. The deal Juventus are making is a January transfer deal - get in a warm body. We're not in that game anymore. If our targets aren't available we shouldn't sign anyone at all. Which is what we're doing.

Eddie's only been stiffed, if he's not on board with the strategy and internally they are demanding results as if he had all the tools at his disposal. I would reckon that's unlikely the case. They want to win it all consistently, that's what we're building towards, Eddie'll know that.

This, I posted all but same on bluesky earlier this moring: Oh there's funds available I would think, the problem will be the players we want aren't. We'll want players who'll be part of the set up for 4-5+ years, not players for today. We're getting rid of those from the bottom end of the squad who hardly play, it's a risk in short term, but not long term.
Holden McGroin 7242
I think Big Mitch will make a token gesture on the last day of the window. £15m for Guehi. Take it or leave it.

So why not take a look at Asensio? 6 month loan, no risk, and adds competition in the RW

We were all in on Guehi and when it didn't come off we were left with nothing to show for it and no alternatives. If Mbuemo is our target in the Summer, and there's decent cover options available on loan in the mean time, then I don't see the sense in not being in for one of them. If Murphy gets injured on Wednesday then we are into square pegs in round holes territory with Gordon on the right, Joelinton on the left and Willock/Longstaff starting in CM Edited 7 hours ago by Kid Dynamite
Gemmill 48424
Lads, we're just gonna have to wait til the end of the summer window to make an assessment of Mitchell. If it transpires that we don't have a list of targets and the bloke has just been brought in to sell sell sell, then I'll hold my hands up at the end of August and admit he's a plank. But if I'm right and we have a list of targets that we're laser focused on, and won't be distracted by "ooo so and so's available, let's just get him in cos we're temporarily short", that's the sort of club we should hope to be. Much rather that than be the sort of club that signz Rashford on loan and pays "a significant proportion" of his £350k a week as some sort of experiment/rehabilitation exercise.
sammynb 3722
Playing devil's advocate, surely it's fine to work towards players that are here/part of the setup for the next 4 or 5 years and the club can take their chance by weakening the squad by selling Kelly, Miggy, Targett or Longstaff but the league is extremely tight from fourth to tenth and with a few key injuries it's not inconceivable that we will struggle for bodies and could finish out of the European places again. Nothing is guaranteed. And you would think without Europe again, the next level of player we hope the club are after, plus the ones we want to keep, becomes less likely. It's still a squad game, even if some aren't up to the level we'd like.

Holden McGroin 7242
I agree with Gemmil on this one. We are just going to have to wait and see how genius Big Mitch is. It’s all on his head now. If we have a few injuries we are borked so he is running the risk. I’m just concerned the knuckle draggers will be on Howes back if we fail to make Europa or CL leagues. This is prime time to beef up the squad to get into the CL and thus attract better players but on Mitch’s head be it. The lad has got stuff going on that it would take more than just Howe to sort out imo. And it would be an incredibly expensive experiment. I think we're well out of it. If he'd take £50k a week until he'd proved himself, go for it, but as it stands it's a non starter for any club with sense imo. He's playing for his boyhood club and he couldn't give a shit.

The list will have to contain an eye popping new contract for Isak…which in itself would create huge problems even if we manage to hold on to 5th/champs lge spot…

ewerk 32272
I don’t think he’s anywhere as bad in training as the manager is making out. It’s all a tactic to get him out of the club to improve their PSR position.

Yes, get that but doubt he feels that his boyhood club is the same place anymore. You just know EH wouldn't be keen on a "star" signing, he wants workers who are happy to quietly and determined go about their jobs.

Rashford is on a downward trajectory on massive wages.

Nothing to do with the fans. Mitchell will have instilled himself into the position of dealing with the PIF and making sure EH just get on with training and managing. It's that typical middle management cunt v worker.
