I wonder if they want a deal set up for a replacement before we let him leave. Or is that wishful thinking!

I'd like to think we have someone lined up but we probably don't want to debate how much cover we have again....

So we spend time scouting this kid, negotiate with his agent and club, arrange a deal, but can't pull the trigger because we can't shift Vlachodimos, Kelly, Almiron, Targett etc. only for City to slap €40mil on the table to sign him as their 6th CB?

If this doesn't prove how bent PSR is I don't what will.

I suspect he might go straight in as 1st choice right back.

Walker gone, Stones unreliable, Rico not trusted there, Matheus Nunes a temporary fix at best.

Vitor Reis might have to wait a little longer for his debut but injuries might dictate we see him sooner than later too.

Also your board might have thought they could go for him in the summer. No one would have reasonably guessed that City would go on a defender spending spree.

Oh and i agree, PSR is well bent.

Scrap domestic ffp and psr.

Instead lean on UEFA's ffp so only the top 6 or so get affected, and keeps us on an even keel with european clubs.

plus a new domestic psr that doesn't care where the money is from just as long as a clubs stability can be shown. is that not what profit and sustainability actually means?

here's one i'd like to know the answer too.

not triggered by any itk info, just my curiousity

If Pep left in the summer and City came in for Eddie Howe. How would you feel? Who would be getting the better deal? Would he be a success? Would you be getting an unexpected opportunity?

edit: oh and would Eddie move?

1. Gutted.

2. Both - We'd get money, you'd get a top manager.

3. Yes.

4. Aye, Pep's available

5. Probably.

i'd be gutted to lose eddie. he's building something special and has been at the centre of everything good since the takeover.

i'd understand if he fancied a bash at the man city job and wouldn't stand in his way were he to leave. i suspect they would be more likely to go for a more high profile manager from oversees.

swap deal for pep?

He's said he wouldn't manage any other club in England so you'd have to leave the PL and join a ESL to have a chance.

Who’s getting the better deal is a mental question tbh mate, we would be losing our manager..

was just a curious thought.

you'd get a new manager, maybe Iraola, maybe Klopp. maybe Santo, maybe Frank plus compensation and a fresh direction. (although i don't think you need one)

Benbob10 seems to have hit the nail on the head. Plus, chicken nonce doesn't have a clue what's going on.

And what the fuck does "preparation to sign". Is that putting a bid in we can't afford? Or was that talking to the player?

Benbob10 makes a very good point, which supports my theory that it’s club policy to plead PSR poverty.

Though it’s no surprise to see Benbob10 showing such insight. He comes from a good family, I knew his father Benbob9 well.

The general sentiment is that Howe is the best manager we've had in the PL era. I don't think we could go and replace him very easily at all. He's a hands on coach who brings the best out of his players, and is smart enough to tweak and develop tactical systems to suit our abilities. He understands the city and fanbase well, speaks eloquently and doesn't get drawn into any of the petty bullshit that other managers seem to. In my view, Howe is more or less carrying the club on his own at the moment.

Lemme put it this way, I wouldn't swap him for Pep. And I think Pep is the better manager from a footballing standpoint.

is it?

not by me it's not. he's got a fucking ocean to cross before he's even fit to be mentioned in the same breath as keegan.

Oooh, he was great for us too. You never knew, week to week if you would win 4-0 or lose 0-4. the only thing you could be sure of was goals.

I get that.

But then I wouldn't swap him for Pep either. I want Pep to stay forever.

Be interesting to see how Eddie would do with City's squad and City's budget.

Howe is the better coach than Keegan. Keegan resurrected the place and the club, but if you're asking me who I'd pick to run the club long term, it's Howe.

he took us from the brink of relegation to the 3rd division for the first time in our history to rampant runaway champions the next season.

he finished 3rd in the premier league the next season playing breathtaking football, qualifying for europe for the first time in 2 decades.

finished 6th the next season and runners up the following one ro a man utd team managed by the premier league greatest manager (the whisky soaked scottish cunt). we were unlucky to come up against that man utd team, keegan didn't blow it.

he was the catalyst for transforming the ground from a barren, sparsely populated shithole in to modern, sold out, 2nd biggest stadium in the country.

honestly man, howe isn't fit to lace his boots, I hope he goes on to warrant comparison. but as it stands, to suggest he does is nothing short of fucking outrageous.

in my opinion.  :)
