I’m just hoping that we see Sanusi promoted to the bench instead of Howe putting two keepers on there

It's always made me wonder why he has never done this.  Even if they have no chance of getting on, it will give them confidence and a lift.  Maybe Howe thinks having senior players like Gillespie are more worthwhile for the other lads.  I.e terms of support etc.

It’s possible Kelly is seen as Burns natural successor and Lascelles probably won’t get another year on his contract.  Only Big Mitch knows this though but as we were after Tosin and Guehi then I think further additions will come in a CB in the future.

I think Kelly is seen as cover for LCB and LB and little more, he may surprise  us and push for a start but he’s cover for two positions in one body. You need players like that.

If we get the offer we seemingly have for Miggy the club will do what they think is best and they usually do ok, fwiw, I'll be amazed if they don't sell him, take the transfer fee and use his wages for somebody else either now or summer whichever works out the best for availability.

It’s their title to lose. It would say a lot about him if he’s more arsed about a final payday than winning a second premier league title. He’s already got enough money and will no doubt secure a shitload more even if he delays his move until the summer .

I’d love to see him take the money and run this month

There was noise a few weeks ago that he was pissed off Liverpool hadn’t come to him with an offer, could be he goes, he’s an Arab and if he feels insulted that’s not easy to overcome.

I’m not sure the murderering bin dipping cunts (©️TBD) will want to renew him at a length of contract he’d be happy with, he’s 32 his legs’ll go soon.

Be great if he fucked off.

Late to the party but here's my two-penneth on Kelly (and Almiron).

Lloyd Kelly was a free transfer that excited not a soul. He is a warm body and, while he's not going to be on the rumoured £150k per week, he is gobbling up wages while providing not a lot. Botman, Schar and Burn are the three first choice Centre Backs. Krafth and Lascelles can provide a similar level of cover that Kelly can and neither of them would attract anything like an £11m fee. Maybe Alex Murphy is good enough to be 4th (FOURTH) choice Centre back?

We also have Hall, Burn, Targett as PL proven left backs, plus Livramento and Trippier who can all fill in at Left back to the same standard as Kelly.

So, here's a saleable asset, not vital to our short or long term targets, who isn't going to improve much, and who's attracting interest.

Fucking sell him now. If a defender of Lloyd Kelly's ability is the difference between getting Champions League football and not, I'd argue our troubles run a lot deeper than even the most pessimistic cunt could imagine.

If we can get c£20m in January for Almiron and Kelly we should absolutely fucking do it. We should have wriggle room due to our caution in the summer, add £20m pure profit to the book in January it should mean we've money to spend now AND money to spend in the summer.

Fundamentally disagree on Kelly. Schar, Burn, Lascelles, Krafth, Tripps and Target are pretty unlikely to be here in 12 months, even if a couple of them are, they are way towards (beyond) the wrong end of the age scale. Kelly is 26 and he’s got pace to burn, we have no idea how good he is without a run of games, which admittedly in an ideal world he won’t get.

Sell him and we’d have to replace him because we basically will have little cover pretty damn soon and that’ll cost way more than we’ll get for him. When he was at Bournemouth he was considered as capable of playing anywhere across the back four, that has value.

The £10 million pure profit is likely bollocks as well, how much was his signing on fee and the agent fee’s, I don’t know but had seen circa £6 mill mentioned.

Selling him is short termism for minimal gain with potential long term pain. It’s way more than just about today it’s about long term squad planning/building.

Eddie rates him enough to have signed him twice, that’s good enough for me.

Schar's reportedly in talks for a new contract and Burn's deal runs out in 2026. Lascelles and Krafth will be moved on, no doubt, but that's a problem for the Summer when we'll need to replace our - check notes- 4th and 5th choice CBs.

Kelly absolutely does not have pace to burn, that's just not true. He's not ponderous, but there's no way I'd call him quick. He's 26 and hasn't shown much more promise than Premier League squad player. He's not going to be as good as Schar, let alone Botman. so at best he's going to be a squad player.

The £10m pure profit is PSR accounting. That £10m on the books could pay for a much more expensive replacement. He cost us nothing in transfer fees so whatever we sell him for is pure profit. Oh, and there's absolutely no fucking way we paid £6m as a signing/agent fee for Lloyd Kelly. In 23/24 we paid £18.8m on agent fees, when we signed;  Tonali, Barnes, Livramento, Minteh, and Hall. There's no way Lloyd Kelly's agent got nearly 32% of their combined outlay.

Eddie might like the lad, he may think he's a super cool fun dude, but the lad is fundamentally not a top 6 centre back and if we want to improve the squad, he's exactly the type of player we need to be moving on. Him, Almiron, Longstaff and Dubravka (in the summer).

Well considering all the news seems to point to us rejecting Kelly bids and finally getting the Almiorn deal done, we can see whose thought process here matches that of the football pros. :cuppa:

We're thought leaders. They're bot feeders.
