The real question is, can Charlotte FC stump up the 20-25M that Saudi possibly could? You'd think they're trying for a sneaky loan deal or something like that which I don't see us agreeing to.

Their transfer record is €8mil apparently. You would think we would be after at least double that

Right now we are like this.

In my opinion, the squad is closed for signings while we wait for us to sign a centre-back (Guehi). We must remember that Lascelles and Borman are injured and, although they recover 'soon', they have had very serious injuries that could keep them from being good for the whole season.

I am counting on the departures of Lewis and Fraser. We also have Ashby, although I didn't put him in because there was no space. I think it is possible that Targett stays.

I wouldn't mind if Hayden stayed. I think that as a starting midfielder, a specialist in destruction could be good to play some Cup games and give us a rest from time to time. Also, I am terrified that we will suffer the plague of injuries from last season again, so we would have to cover all the bases.

I hope that Kuol goes on loan. I haven't been able to see the boy at all, but he must be far from his level yet.

We need to sort out the goalkeeping issue, but I'm not worried about it (and there's Gillespie too, but I think his role will no longer be to be a regular in the team).

I'd stick with Osula. I've hardly ever seen him, but we all know Wilson's problems with injuries (and Isak has had some in his later years too).

If Almiron leaves, I think we should make a big outlay and bring in a very good player for the right wing. I don't know if we'll have the money, but it could make a difference if we play 'another' Gordon on the right wing.

And this record is for a Right Winger. The same as Almiron (probably Almiron would play as a Second Striker in USA, but...)

Let's say our transfer plans fall to shite and we don't sign a RW. Do you think Eddie would try Gordon on the right? That of course enables Barnes to start on the LW.

In any case I'm wondering how happy Barnes will be playing second fiddle if he stays fit this season. Interesting to see how we manage him this time around.

Yes. In that case, I think Gordon should be tried on the right. Or maybe Willock could play there as a false winger, leaving Trippier or Livramento all the wing.

The times I've seen Gordon on the right, I've not been completely convinced. He has the natural talent to shine, but obviously he shines less on the right.

I mentioned this at the beginning of the transfer window. It's a shame because I really like Barnes, but it doesn't make sense for your two most talents players to play on the left and the two who play on the right to be mediocre. So if an offer came for Barnes for the same price he cost and we could sign a great right winger with that, it would make a lot of sense. Obviously, I don't think that can happen.

It's bad luck not to have been able to keep Minteh.

Then if Gordon gets injured you're left with Joelinton or a 17 year old playing the rest of the season on the LW

No. I think it is understood that, in that case, one of the two right-handers (Almirón or Murphy) would also have to be released and a player with his characteristics would have to be signed for the left wing.

It is about having a balanced team.

In any case, it is something that is not going to happen and it is not something that should be given too much thought.

So Madueke is being touted as Miggy’s replacement. I saw all the games v Chelsea last season and couldn’t really remember him doing much. Fact is we played 570 minutes v Chelsea and he played in a grand total of 3 of them. So can spreadsheet dudes dish the stats that prove he’s a better player than Miggy and not just some petulant penalty kick prick? :cuppa:

I think Hall played quite a few minutes in the 6 role during preseason. He'll provide a little depth in that position. I wouldn't have Hayden around the first team, to be honest. He's just not at the level needed.

Hayden's problem was that his body wasn't equipped for the combative style of game he played. When he came here he also had more of an attacking instinct. He'd done and I agree there's no point in having him around the first team. We have plenty of depth in midfield and we want to give fringe time to the young players rather than those on their decline.

Although Miley for me could be ahead of Longstaff depending on how he returns from his injury.
