If I had to guess I think Szoboszlai might end up being the one given what you imagine Maddison's wage demands will be. There were rumours a while back that Maddison would be looking for wages above our wage structure and subsequently Spuds was his most likely destination. Howay 12496 Posted May 29, 2023 Share Posted May 29, 2023 Szoboszlai Is captain of his national side at just 22 so clearly has leadership qualities, whereas Maddison seems a bit immature still. From the few games I’ve seen of Szoboszlai he seems a good fit for Howe’s system, but as others have noted Maddison is a proven talent in the PL, I won’t grumble with either signing tbh but definitely think it’s Szoboszlai as primary target and Maddison is the back up option. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

His stats on pressing to win possession back are also well ahead of Maddison's. Although I suppose the stats regarding pressing are from this season, so perhaps don't give a fair reflection of Maddison given he was in a struggling team.
