The Fish 10857
So much to unpack from that photograph. Dungeon Master with the bowl cut in the middle looks like he's already got a decent idea how to get his "Dispose of the body" badge. Flag Shagger at the back is has that manic look in his eyes that tells me this could all turn violent, very quickly...

Howay 12496
Spot on. Btw, Howe and Ashworth have decided that transfers will be very under wraps - so apparently it’s only them two and Nickson that really know who they’re actually bidding on etc, unless it’s the odd bit that Nickson tells the scout team (obviously scouts will know who they’ve been told to watch but doesn’t always equate to further interest), or they tell actual journalists things. In short these ITKs are full of it. Edited June 13, 2022 by Howay

Polarboy 2311
Report: Newcastle eye £51m double deal for Inter duo, defender and midfielder (hitc.com) Is Calciomercato in any way reputable, or is the more pertinent question are any Italian football magazine's reputable. In any case getting Calhanoglu and Drumfries for 51m would be a great bit of business. 25.5m for a 28 year old in Calhanoglu isn't ideal, but going by his stats he'd likely be worth the outlay regardless. Tom 14011
I was once genuinely in the know, well in advance of the transfer but it was a U23 player from Liverpool (Brookwell) so nobody cared I know his uncle who’s a great fella, told me about 3 months in advance he was signing for Newcastle. Me and his uncle were out for a pint and he popped out. Lovely lad, didn’t talk massively about football but he said he loved working under Caldwell (no longer there) & that Shelvey was absolutely world class in training.

Polarboy 2311
Chicken little is apparently going to have an update on Botman and Ekitike shortly. We've also been linked to Merih Demiral the Juve defender. He's right footed so he would likely be in addition to Botman. Apparently he could be available on an initial loan deal, so it would suit us obviously given we're seemingly desperate to spread costs in order to sign as many quality players as possible this window. Polarboy 2311
The big update from the Telegraph was that we're willing to walk away from the Botman deal because Lille have stuck 6m on top of the 30m we had already agreed to pay, at the last minute. So it could come down to who blinks first if that's the case. And the report also states that the Ekitike deal is progressing well. Isegrim 9774
Lille raised fee from 30m to 36m Excessive fees for the likes of Calvert-Lewin (60m), Toney (50m) and others meaning Newcastle ended their interest Ekitike will cost an initial 12m with add ons leading up to 30m, agent fee needs to get sorted No interest in Paqueta

Howay 12496
I don’t understand how that’s even ‘Newcastle tax’, that’s just fucking people about. If you accept a bid you accept a bid, what’s the point in then late rejecting it and adding more on when no one matched or beat that bid? If they wanted more than the bid then don’t accept it, just state your price.
Polarboy 2311
The clubs who add on money at the end are likely hoping the other club are so far along with negotiating with the player, perhaps other targets have moved, generally put a lot of work in etc, that they hope the club will just fold and say fuck it to get the deal done. Possibly, but it’s a bit early in the window for that surely? Our supposed back up options like Badashielle and N’Dicka haven’t moved, and it’s increasing the fee by 20%. It’s of course their prerogative, but it’s unprofessional and if true I kind of hope we just walk away, or just say (as it looks from the title of the article we have done) accept the offer you’d accepted already or we’re off. Plus the flip side of this is why bother increasing the bid and putting in more work when you already know their word isn’t worth much. That is likely to prompt a take it or leave it ultimatum from Newcastle this week before they move on to other targets. As with the January transfer window, sources have told Telegraph Sport that a Newcastle tax is being applied to their potential deals and it has once again complicated concluding them successfully. Newcastle’s transfer budget this summer is between £80m and £100m - an increase on the figure initially divulged back in the spring, but still far smaller than many predicted following the takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund last October. That means there is a tight limit on what can be spent on individual players and the Magpies hierarchy are adamant they will not be ripped off. That stance has already all but ended the Magpies pursuit of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin after they were quoted an asking price of £60m for the England international. It also brought a swift conclusion to their interest in Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who would have cost upwards of £50m. Neither move will happen unless those prices come down. The same is true of Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, with Newcastle not willing to match his £30m asking price at this stage in the window. The pursuit of Botman had been more successful only for Lille to try to extract even more money late on in the talks. It remains to be seen how the player reacts to the latest setback as he has publicly admitted he needs to leave and wants to be at his new club before the start of pre-season training. Newcastle are said to be extremely annoyed as they thought they had a deal agreed last week. They are also confident that the player wants to move to Tyneside and that personal terms for the 22-year-old will not be a problem. The Magpies have always been wary of making a third bid for Botman, as they found Lille were also difficult to deal with in January, when they had two bids rejected. But having been encouraged to bid again for the Netherlands Under-21 international, Newcastle thought a deal was close to being agreed only for the goalposts to be shifted once more. With the deadlock remaining over the weekend, senior sources at St James’ Park have told Telegraph Sport that they are considering other options and will walk away unless Lille see sense. There is a rather more positive assessment of Newcastle’s ongoing negotiations with striker Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman is keen on the move and a fee has been agreed with Reims, which will involve Newcastle paying an initial sum of around £12m for the teenager (which could rise to £30m with various add-ons and performance related clauses). The deal should be completed this week although there are a few minor details to be agreed still, including agent fees. Meanwhile, despite claims they were looking to sign him, Newcastle are not interested in Lyon's Brazil attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
