There might be more exciting options out there but he’s tried and tested and will be great for the first stage in our development and a good squad player after that. He’s be an excellent first signing. Edited June 8, 2022 by Dr Gloom

Why spend £40m on Lodi when we can get Targett for cheaper and strengthen more key area's first.
Ayatollah Hermione 15010
If Howe thinks he can get a tune out of Lewis then let him crack on. He’s got something out of all of the other lost causes

So the likes of him and Burn have shown they’re easily worth a starting place but would also be integral going forward even if we get upgrades in. I was surprised when we didn’t appear to be signing him as he looked a very competent player.

The speed in which he fit in was phenomenal and the prices being mentioned are a bargain these days for a known entity.
Howay 12496
Good signing, canny player who did well last season - the focus for spending looks to be elsewhere. Surprised as I thought since it was so delayed they were looking elsewhere, maybe they were and didn’t fancy any of the deals over this one or were waiting for Ashworth coming in.

Rayvin 6361
Really pleased Targett is joining us, think he's proven he wants to be here and that he's good enough to be here (at least for where we are at the moment). No need to throw money at a more expensive option there. Good business, nice to see him rewarded.
Meenzer 16707
Aye. We've played Champions League football with Griffin, Hughes, Bernard, Bramble and O'Brien as our defensive pool. He's definitely good enough for what we're aiming for in the immediate future. 5
