We've barely scraped a goal a game, not exactly setting the world on fire up front. Only three teams have scored less. But also, yes, only one team has conceded more.

Got to hope Bruno can create more from midfield, and Targett, Trippier, Wood and Burn can make us into set piece specialists.

Im hoping Willock finds some form too and adds more attacking intent from midfield. Wilson should be back in 6 weeks too

Willock has been absolutely useless this year. He's lucky to have kept his squad position, he's been that poor. Needs to start showing the form he did last year. Less negativity and moving the ball up the pitch. We've all seen he's capable of it.

Disappointing not getting another attacking player in but we have strengthened a lot more than Burnley, Watford and Norwich have. We only need to finish higher than three other teams.

The back four is definitely more solid and Guimaraes should really help with the spine of the team.

So does Lascelles continue as captain? I hope he’s stripped of the armband and Burn replaces him, hopefully alongside Fernandez, when fit, or Schar

I imagine we will line up like this against Everton

———————Dubravka

Trippier—-Schar——Burn—-Targett

———Bruno—-Shelvey—-Joelinton

—-——Fraser—-Wood——-ASM

I'm not pissing the bed anymore based on our transfers, but I can see a time where I question if a damp patch is sweat or piss.

A temporary dam has been erected. We need to go and take six points from Everton and Villa now. Failure to do so will see some moisture return

Can we not just fuck Shelvey off out of the team play Bruno in the centre and Big Joe one side, Almiron on the other in a full South American continental fuck you to the opposition.

It occurred to me that I have NEVER in my living memory had the transfer window newsfeed running in January. I'm in shock.. I'll forever hold Trippier in high esteem, no matter what happens - he took the bet and that set a bar , I reckon.

Shelvey’s been mostly decent since the takeover. He might look better still with Bruno doing some of his running for him.

Almiton, I dunno. I want him to do well, just don’t think it’s ever going to happen for him here. Surprised he wasn’t one we offloaded actually. He probably also needs to play higher up the pitch. Willock could come in for shelvey in a midfield 3 but he hasn’t been up to much this season.

Dan Burn:

“I’m buzzing to be here. I never thought I’d be in this position so to be a Newcastle player and to be around St. James’ Park, it’s something I’ve dreamt of since I was a kid.

“I can’t wait to step out in the shirt and to see what it feels like.

From sitting in the East Stand as a kid to now, it’s crazy. I’m excited to get started.”

Eddie Howe:

“I’m delighted to bring Dan back to the North East.

He knows exactly what it means to represent this club and he will be a big presence for us on and off the pitch.

“We have been very keen to add competition defensively and Dan fits the profile we have been looking for.

He is naturally left-footed, which provides further balance to our backline, and he will be a great addition to the group.”

You’re right Willock is a better shout and I think with Bruno there he will gain more confidence.

Shelvey has indeed improved but still gives up possession way to much and we all know he cannot be trusted. He’s always a send off waiting to happen and that’s a liability we don’t need.

Gutted we couldn’t get this done due to his clubs demands. Maybe between him and Bruno it would have been too much balls in one side. They’d have taken up the entire video room when they tried to watch footage of Digne and his microscopic testes playing for Villa.

Miggy doesn't seem to fit in with our current tactics. He was more suited to the counter attack. Appears that his confidence is a bit short atm. I'd love to see him find a place in the team, perhaps Guimaraes playing will change things for him. I'd be starting with Shelvey to see how they play together and then look at Willock. Could possibly look at playing Almiron off Wood.

After the transfer window did close we got 3/4 of our back four changed as well as hopefully a proper box to box midfielder to get a grip of the game in the middle of the park.

It would have been nice to improve our attacking options but that wasn’t meant to be, maybe partly because the lack of structure of our recruitment team and lack of experience with big money transfers and how to convince top class players. But I do think that a lot of clubs as well as players probably tried to exploit our desperate position and I am fine with the club not just bowing to stupid demands.

It will all be about staying up, something that will still be very difficult and maybe  unlikely. But I do believe that things will look very different once we go into a transfer window being in a position of strength.

Definitely. Man U were trying to take us for mugs and we showed we weren’t going to have the piss taken out of us. Things will get easier in the summer window…. if we survive. I hope we don’t regret shelling out the £15m or whatever it was for the loan on Lingard. I get why they walked away from it but it’s peanuts in the scheme of things to PIF
