If Ekitike falls through, I’d smash the money down for a permanent deal for Lingard

Lingard doesn't want to come on a permanent, he didn't want to come at all at first. Loan is our only option. If he likes it here, he may sign otherwise he wants to go to London apparently.

Downie sounding really negative on Ekitike. 9 HOURS 54 MINUTES.

To be fair, I know very little about the lad but from his point of view, if Newcastle really wanted him they'd have signed him 1 week ago. He's probably also heard the superstars we want to sign in the summer (if we stay up) and wondering if he'll be needed beyond the next 6 months/ develop under Howe.

From my point of view, I'm not convinced a 19 year year who has a few good months is what we need. He didn't set the world a light in his previous year in the Danish league (3 in 11) nor does he have a stellar youth record so I am a little sceptical. But I'm not a scout and we just have to trust the recruitment team.

Carrasco on the other hand would be a bad buy at £50m+. He's a good player but seeing how Liverpool got Luis Diaz for the same amount and at that price you can get Schick (summer, not now) as well as a few others, I really hope we use the money better. If people don't know, Carrasco looked really good a few years ago, went to China, did ok but hasn't kicked on. He's doing ok at Atletico but he's just way too expensive. He's also 29 later this year. I'm sure most of us would have preferred Botman or Carlos with that money.

They're not taking the money out of your allowance, mate.

Money spent on Carrasco means money that can't be spent else where because of FFP. Look at Everton, Ancelotti got best part of £100m - Benitez gets barely £1m 😂.

Just don't want us wasting £50m on an Iwobi 🙂

I'd love to get Botman here, he is someone who we could build around whereas Carlos is older and shorter term.

Ekitike must be one for the future, any transfer of a youth is a risk, so you've got to hope for an element of luck when you pick them up.

Lingard would be the cherry on top for the rest of this season, hopefully Man Utd will give it up this afternoon.

 What a fantastic analyst Merson is btw, he’s just said Ramsey to Rangers doesn’t make a lot of sense as you have a Scottish team helping him get game time before Wales have to play Scotland. That’s definitely Rangers priority isn’t it Paul

He's absolutely fucking pickled. I don't know what they get him on for. He's only entertaining when he's watching a match on Soccer Saturday like a live action div.

Sky pumping gambling ads every break yet they've got someone who is a victim of it as one of their main characters. Ironic.

It's the only way they can keep him from wandering off.

Could well see Lingard choosing West Ham again tbh.

Lingard I think would prefer it. Whether Man Utd want to hand 4th place to WHU is another matter.
