Ekitike is not only in the balance but also not sure a 19 year old is going to fit scrape into a relegation scrap. (Based solely on nowt).

Given Wilson is out for a couple of months I would have felt much better with a decent striker arriving.

i'm quite excited about ekitike. he might be one who comes off the bench for now (though looking at his YT video he looks more of a goal threat than fraser so could potentially slot in at RW straight away).

he is potentially a big player for us in the future, and one who could tear up the championship alongside wood, were the worst to happen. i think if you look at the big picture he's a plan A signing, alongside trippier and bruno. burn, wood and targett were plan B or C signings - solid PL players who will be up for the relegation battle.

It’s been a great window, but we really could do with another CB I know it seems greedy to say . Hopefully if this is it Burns and one of our current lot with Bruno shielding them and improved fullbacks will make us look way more solid, but without seeing a couple of games with all these pieces it just feels like we needed 2 CBs.

Like I say though cracking window, know nothing about Eketike but I assume he’s amazing and will become the next Henry.

I think we should sign Kuqi and Sibierski in the last few minutes just for a laugh.

I think I read that he was like second or third in Europe for scoring after coming on off the bench. So he could be a very useful supersub.

I reckon we could still end up with a Phillips or a Diop, along with Lingard come the end of the window to add to the six mentioned above. They'll be the cherry's on top, although it could be argued that two centre backs were essential. Of course, and not to piss in any cornflakes, there is the received wisdom that it's very hard to integrate more than three players into a squad per window. It was Wenger who said it iirc. I think he was of the opinion that having more than three come in at one time can destabilise the other players in the squad, among other concerns. So yeah, we've signed too many players, sack the board 😂

Different situations too though, ie he never had an absolutely shite squad that needed a complete overhaul. If he did he wouldn’t have been of the opinion that 3 was enough

What is this ‘attacking options on the bench’ thing you speak of?

Especially when you consider we’ve only had two players in our history called Hugo

Kermit The Frog Reaction GIF

When I lived in the area and had a season ticket I sat next to a very posh bloke who went to the matches with his young son.

he used to sing “we are the geordies, the super geordies” to the geordie boot boys chant

being a southerner I tried to distance myself from him so that people didn’t think we were together but he always wanted to chat

one day Viana did something quite good and this posh bloke stood up and shouted  “get stuck in Hugo!” in the worst Tim nice but Dim accent and the massive bloke in front of us turned round and gave him such a look that I don’t remember him shouting anything ever again

Not sure how to feel on Ekitike. Highly rated it seems, nice skills, £20M for a 19 year old that's doing well in a top European league - but just a looks physically quite lightweight for the PL. Bit of a 1997 take but his skills and ball control aren't of an obsence level and will be nullified against 90% of PL defenders.

Has a strange body type - tall, but doesn't look particularly strong. Can see it being a big big step up for him.

Thierry Henry looked a right glakey fucker at his age too. Didn't stay like that though.

I think he was speaking fairly generally in fairness, as opposed to in regard to his clubs specifically. And I'd Imagine at Nancy, Monaco at the time, and the Japanese team he managed there was plenty to do. At Arsenal of course he has a pretty solid spine to work with. In any case as I'm sure you picked up on I'm mostly joking. It's champagne problems.

Aye, I think as a general rule it’s correct and it’s far from ideal we’re having to do it too. Wasn’t meant as saying Wenger was wrong more the squad and league position make it a unique set of circumstances for the RICHEST FOOTBALL CLUB ON THE ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET!
