Still used to pay cash at the turnstyle on the Gallowgate up until 92/93.

Six quid if I remember right.

Although I do remember one glorious day that season I had to leg I round to the Leazes for some reason, v Bristol City I do recall.

Fucking Keegan wrecking everything.

Good question that actually. How much was the 1st ticket you bought for St James? Think mine was £3. The scoreboard.

give the bindippers their due, their sale was 25% priority ticket holders.

the other 75% was a ballot for season ticket holders/members.... no preference for the former. everybody in the 75% therefore had a 1 in 2 chance of a ticket.

it has to be the way forward. a season ticket holder rents a seat for 19 games, it's not 'theirs'.

cup scheme should be abolished, it's fucking bollocks.

Christ I wouldn’t have a clue, I only remember that £6 because it was the first season I’d managed to get to every home game (ironically until after the first couple of Keegan games - moved abroad for work)

Before that tickets, rather than just paying on the gate, were only if I went in the seats with me dad and would have no clue on the cost, he usually paid!

My mate who’s had his ST since 1980 and goes to all home cup games would disagree I reckon.

I couldn't give a flying fuck whether he does or not.

I suspect he doesn’t give a flying fuck that you don’t give a flying fuck. Especially as he’s going to Wembley.

Daughter got two in the ballot today.

A bitter sweet moment. Obviously I’m delighted for her, usually we attend games together and went to Trafalgar Square last time. Alas, she has acquired a boyfriend in recent months and I am no longer the apple of her eye :(

In fairness, I had already decided not to go this time and she did ask me yesterday if I wanted to be included in the ballot.

God knows how she’s going to get there!

pointing out that having a season ticket doesn't make you some kind of superfan (including your mate) with a god given right to a claim to a ticket above every fucker else doesn't count as incessantly moaning man, it's just a fucking fact.

I was really hoping to get a ticket through their fucking shite pot 6 ballot because the miles I've put in for cup games this season possibly merits it, but mostly because although humbled by the amount of money my 87 year old father has forked out for a ticket for me, I also feel quite embarrassed and torn by the ethics of it. I would like to have given him his money back.

hope that clears that up for you.
