Only time I've been in the home end for one of our games was at Goodison not far from where the current away end is, (back then we had the whole end behind the goal before it got pulled down). I celebrated like mad as we were scored two goals and won without conceding. The  complete and utter apathy from the home fans probably saved a slightly drunk me from a hiding as there were empty seats all over that section, the crowd was only 25,000 and a good few thousand of those were in the sold out away end hence me being where I was. I wasn't chased down the street nor even out of the ground but it obviously never happened whenever I've mentioned this to a younger Everton fan.

canny article that. of course the problem 'charlie' has got is that real name, ie the one he bought the ticket with, will almost certainly have now been shared with the premier league and its member club. it says so in the t&c's for anybody who can be arsed to trawl through them, it's like war and peace, the parts alone which deal with sanctions for any kind of violations alone is longer than lord of the rings.

heard the story of the young kid in the liverpool top at brighton, the dad rang in talked to sutton and savage about it on 606 after the arsenal game, a shame but then a pretty stupid thing to do really.

I've sat in the home end at Bolton, Sunderland and Wigan iirc. The Sunderland game was where Kieran Richardson scored a screamer. Never again.

I think the bloke in that interview nails the bit about the flawed ballot though. The club can get fucked if it thinks I'm paying £37 to chuck my name in a hat when they refuse to say how big the hat is or how many names are in it. (Probably because they know half of the members would then cancel)

in the home end loads of times over the years, not always with the best of intentions as a young man easily led astray.

probably one of the most memorable was a cup game against forest. coach load of us tanked up after a boisterous afternoon in the olde trip to jerusalem decided it would be a good idea to go in the trent end smack bang in the middle of the miners strike. burst in to a chorus of geordie's aren't scabs, fuckers are all scattered until they realised there was only about 40 us.... I've never been so pleased to see the police in all me life!

got an escort round the side of the pitch to the away end and a proper ear bashing of brian clough, never clipped any of us mind, think he saved the slaps for his own supporters!

I've sat in the home end at Bolton. If owt had kicked off I'm confident I could have lost them in the aisles of Boots or Home Bargains next door to their shite retail park situated ground.

as a bit if an aside to the tale above in nottingham, the game ended 1-1 and the replay was arranged for a few days later, not sure why it happened so quickly because I don't recall that being the norm at the time?

anyway, we lost 3-1 after extra time, however the most memorable th8ng about that particular game for anybody there was the snowball fight between the corner and the scoreboard, fucking epic!  :)

A lad I worked with up in Edinburgh gave me a couple of tickets from his director dad for the Liverpool, Guivarc'h  intro.

Even though I had nowt to crow about I was sussed out rather swiftly and must admit I did leave early(ish) .

Always uncomfortable being in with the opposing fans.

ballots opened for both the leicester and brentford cup game at 12 today, both close at 12 tomorrow.

no idea why they've changed from a 2 day window to only 24 hours?

doesn't seem to achieve anything other than increasing the possibility you miss a ballot altogether, not that I ever win one anyway mind!

I'm in the ballot for both games for me and the bairn. I look forward to the club taking both fists and going to town on my ball bag and pride - It'll make me so happy to lose out to a PR stunt from the US and to watch his travel vlog from JFK to SJP via ponteland airport while he butchers the players names and the classic chants. Thank you Newcastle United.

didn't bother with brentford, can't be arsed with a 4am finish, plus you could attend every single game as a member in a run to wembley and you still wouldn't get a sniff of a final ticket.

applied for leicester though, fuck all again!

that's 0/8 for me, 1/8 for me mate (brighton) and 0/8 for me mates daughter.

1/24 applications..... canny this like.

Aye, it's fucking mental. Bloke at work has entered 5 times so far and got in 3 times, he can't work out why he's in and I'm not but I am guessing it's because he's only going for the one seat so can get in any of the odd seats left over and I'm after two together every time.

oh hooray, it's the weekly ballot fail day.

aston villa makes it 0/9 this season, but also the last ballot ticket I won was for forest on boxing day last season.

a full year of ballot failures, I think I warrant some kind of good fortune certificate!

Seeing as I rarely use my membership I'm happy to give it a go on your behalf to double your chances of not getting a ticket if it helps any?

appreciate that mate.

in fairness I've got a ticket for every one of our league games this season plus chelsea in the league cup, which is every game I've tried for in the member general sale.

I just like whinging about the ballot, because I'm a whinging old cunt.
