PaddockLad 17281 Posted March 8, 2022 Share Posted March 8, 2022 So xG is a measure of “Whether a given shot will result in a goal” Clip goes on to suggest that players with a high xG are the best players due to the number of goals they score, but you shouldn’t bring the players identity into it but all stats do need context and should be used in conjunction with other stats because on its own it’s not a good measure of anything but they’ve used it on match of the day on its own so it must be good… What a load of self congratulatory contradictory fuckin old bollocks…..am not dismissing xG out of hand , am dismissing this as an explanation because it’s basically suggesting we count how many goals a player scores.
