wykikitoon 19801
Jones will be in charge v Brighton. Then a break for the wanky internationls. IMO that's when we get a manager. If its Emery or not.

Bruce should have been peddled day 1 it made zero football sense to keep him, the SD shite should have been down Day 1 (would Ashley really have scuppered the deal if they'd said NAH!) and now this managerial circus. They've an awful lot to learn it would appear. The euphoria is being replaced by same old, same old, Newcastle. Richest club in the world now shopping in poundland. Damp squid surely!! Alan Doh'liver 219
Spanish clubs are notoriously hard to deal with, still remember the song and dance the chairman made when we tried to sign Gutierrez. If Emery is genuinely interested then he'll come if we can provide him with a decent wage and assurances of the club's direction. Let's face it, he'd have told us to do one already if he didn't fancy it. Might just be him trying to use the situation to get the best possible deal for himself. Especially considering his current team are through to the next round of the CL, while he'll be coming here to slog through a relegation battle.
The Fish 10659
Way too much bed wetting going on. Howe would be a huge improvement on Bruce and while he's keeping us up we can be filling the other positions with a more long term focus. Emery deal isn't dead, fwiw
wykikitoon 19801
Bed Wetting? So basically Jones will still be putting his nose in team selection. Bruce MKII FUCK THAT
Polarboy 2311
Howe is a lot better than Bruce, but he's still a bottling nonce. At least according to Celtic supporters, who I'm sure are in no way biased.

I saw stats this morning that said out of howes last 27 games for Bournemouth, he lost 19. Why is that a HUGE improvement?

Bruce MKII FUCK THAT That's from football insider, but how reliable are they. Could be that they are just hedging their bets by writing this, assuming that Balague is right on the money and the only other choice is Howe. They might actually know fuck all, and have no actual source of their own. Clutching at straws here a bit, but I'm not aware of football insider being a highly respected source of news. Kid Dynamite 6961
Being disappointed we've gone from Conte, Ten Haag and Emery to Eddie Howe is not bed wetting. If he had been discussed as a 6months option on day one then most fans would have probably been behind it. 3-4 weeks in and it's got shades of Bruce as 11th choice manager. It will be interesting to see how long his contract is. If it's 4-5 years then I think it's a huge mistake. Next Summer should be a big overhaul of the squad. Howe isn't going to inspire top European players to joint the club

The other point for me with Howe is he’s an unknown for me, Emery has history turning teams around in contrast we have no clue if Howe is capable of that. He did well at Bournemouth but it’s a club that built around him over years, and when he tried somewhere else he failed before going right back to Bournemouth. Coming into the PL with a club you’ve been building through the leagues for a few years is a stark contrast to taking over a struggling side mid season, add in that I don’t rate the bloke very highly in general he spent a decent amount of money with Bournemouth and they never kicked on. Howe was a good option when we had Ashley, I really don’t see him as a good option now.
Polarboy 2311
We were never getting someone on Conte's level in any case. That's equivalent to people in the media saying we think we should be trying to sign Neymar straight away. As for Howe I wouldn't really give a fuck who the next manager was as along as I was confident he could keep us up. The person we bring in likely won't be here very long anyway. The problem is I'm in no way confident that Howe can keep us up. He did well to get Bournemouth up and keep them up for several seasons, but the way in which they got relegated, and his apparent inability to arrest their decline that season is more than troubling. It also has to be said that even in the seasons he kept them up, they seemed to go through some very tough spells before pulling it together and going on a run, and it's not as if we have much margin of error after our shocking no win start. Gemmill 44090
Lads man. This is a long term project and we're a relegation prospect at the minute. Just chill out and let's beat the drop with whoever is in charge and move on from there. Shit will get good, it's just clearly not gonna happen immediately.
TheGingerQuiff 2412
Why is keeping Jones or in fact anybody a factor? How about bringing a manager in who has his own coaching team that aligns with what he wants from his team? Willing to work with a current fucking loser we have on the books, great

I do agree, my worry is I don’t see Howe as the bloke to keep us up. If they’d have come in and appointed him within a week when we had played 6 or so games that would have been one thing, but appointing him after scrambling around for a month with 10 games played makes things a lot harder. I wouldn’t be as worried if Howe was a manager that was known for grinding results and making a hard to beat side, like a Dyche maybe, but he’s not that type of manager. Obviously if he comes in I’d support the bloke and root for him to prove me completely wrong, but I’m not positive about the rumour.
Ayatollah Hermione 13760
The line about Jones being the deal breaker is that strange, I’m going to assume Ashley gave him a fucking mental contract as well
247 597
Im just going to say it now, I'll be pissing the bed if its Howe. Not just because we could have appointed the bloke a month ago its more that the step down from Emery to Howe is massive, is there no one inbetween that would have been willing to take it?? It must have been a right fuck on negotiating with the higher tier managers we've spoken to, whats funny is Bruce was the 11th on the list for Ashley and without doubt Howe must have been nearly 11th on the list for Staveley.. I dunno. Just feels like a desperation appointment if it happens now after our list of targets have been exhausted. Fuck sake man.
Dougle 3286
Every time, since the takeover, that I've seen “sports direct” either behind Bruce or Jones in post match interviews, or still utterly dominating SJP I do wonder what the general fk is going on. Now with these latest Charnley/Jones revelations I’m completely baffled. Tomorrow is 4 weeks since the takeover and talk is about Eddie Fucking Howe. wykikitoon 19801
The SD signs don't worry me. yes there is legacy but there is no doubt contractual terms attached to them. It's how we have ended up with Howe.
