I can't see how they can stay in the PL. What would the point be? The elixir of top 4 would be rendered meaningless. Even if they did stay they would need to hoover up even more players for the two squads they would need.

I believe The PL statement is already worded to allow them to do both.

Not sure if it’s paywalled but it’s basically saying that the major leagues have announced any club that joins this breakaway would be banned from the domestic league. I can’t see it going ahead after that, it’s a hell of a risk for the clubs especially the PL ones.

Agree with Chaser that there needs to be punishment now even if they don’t go ahead with it. It can’t be something they keep threatening to do to try and influence things. It’s also high time the 14 other clubs in the PL started just block voting against these wankers, especially the Evertons of the league who have often sided with them. Should start pushing for things like pooling and splitting the TV money throughout the entire league system rather than just the PL etc, as it would be a further safeguard for clubs who are at risk of relegation and would mean you’re in a better spot to retain players and push to get back.

Personally I hope they leave and get barred from the PL, I think it would at least give us a more interesting league for a bit. Who knows maybe the PL might push through the Saudi bid for us without having Liverpool and Spurs whinging for a block.

The best thing is this is the sort of shite fat Mike would wank himself stupid to be part of but because he took a club that was more competitive and prosperous than Spurs when he bought us to the shell we are today he has lost out on the possible golden egg he could have had!

At least he’s saved us the hand wringing we would had to do if we had of been part of these cunts and not dealing with our own cuntish problems.

Got to be sanctions for the way in which they're going about this. If it goes ahead, ban them from domestic competition. If it doesn't, put  in some kind of transfer ban or all clubs involved to be docked 40 points. It'll give us some sport at least to see if we can finish above them. :icon_lol:

Not with Bruce in charge.  We will still be playing for a draw and hanging on for 40 (or is it 35 these days) points ourselves

There’s no way this gets off the ground. It would completely fuck the PL. In seasons like this with the title pretty much decided in March then the race for the top 4 becomes what people want to see. To begin every season with six clubs already qualified for the top European competition takes away a huge element of excitement. Why would West Ham and Leicester even be bothering this season?

From a UEFA perspective this pretty much shits on their golden goose. Their club competitions will be worth a fraction of their previous value.

The clubs involved have surely overplayed their hand here. If they are banned from domestic competition then they no longer can function as a football club. They can’t exist to play a few midweek European games. The fans will protest and boycott in their droves. It’s going to backfire spectacularly on them and it deserves to.

I am not sure if they are overestimating the market. The money has to come mainly from tv contracts but those stations who often already operating in losses might not want to pay much more. It will also be difficult with existing tv agreements in place, apparently one main reason PSG aren’t into it yet with it threatening the business model of BEIN.

UEFA are staunchly opposed to the idea and have responded by saying every club and player involved in the Super League face being banned from UEFA and FIFA competitions.

They said: "Every club and player participating in the Super League could be banned from all UEFA and FIFA competitions, European or International level."

 Good riddance to the bloated boring cunts. They can fuck right off and play in their shite “super” league while the rest of the country can get on with the normal league system. I hope they do realize that naturally some of them will become the whipping boys, and the lower income members of that league right?

I just find it such an absurd concept, so fans of Liverpool and Manchester United won’t be able to brag about being champions of England anymore, they can try and brag about this pish but who will give a fuck? I’ll personally put way more stock in the PL without them than their stupid super duper league. What the rest of the league need to do is put in stipulations that if they leave and decide they want to be back they have to start at the bottom of the ladder.

The way they've apparently distributed the cash isn't even equal within the breakaway league. So, Barcelona get a larger share of the initial pot e.g. Afterwards, if a new club joined, they'd have no say vote in the running of the league, smaller share funds for participating and if they were to win the thing, they'd get less than the original clubs do, simply for playing in the group stage.

There's no sporting point in the thing, it's entirely down to the big boys not liking competition. So they're not bothered about 'legacy fans' and are chasing future fans instead. Those future fans that'll soon get bored of watching their chosen team get pumped every week. Which means those fans who've not got any real ties to the club will simply change allegiance to whoever's winning all the time. Arsenal and Spurs playing pointless games for 90% of the season, in front of smaller tourist crowds.

Can the football associations ban players from being traded to or from those clubs for money?

Can the players refuse to take part in it? PL players contracts are with the FA, aren't they?

Players will just follow the cash.

Fuck the "ESL" clubs all off out of the current leagues and let them play in their ESL. Proper football will reset itself with the help of "legacy fans" (what a fucking term!!) , will take time, but could be a blessing in disguise.

Some might, but what's the point in playing for Arsenal in the Greed League? An extra few bob in their accounts, but no domestic medals, no international medals. Messi and Ronaldo aren't judged purely on the number of goals they've scored against elite clubs, but by the Copa del Rey trophies, the Champions League medals, the league titles, the World Cups, the Euros. Play for Spurs and get humped by Real Madrid and Man City every other week, win nowt and play in front of tourists, or play for West Ham in the Champions League, in front of a vociferous crowd, win FA cups, help Italy win the Euro and World cups and still have a big payday at the end of it.

The truly great players want more than just money, they want renown. That won't come from this new league.
