Wasn't it chicken tikka massala that was invented Britain ? Not sure how big a difference there is. I always heard it was invented in Glasgow.

The version i've heard, i think on QI with the king of all knowledge Stephen Fry, is that it was invented in glasgow:

 

Some scottish bloke had ordred chiken tikka and asked for some gravy with it!!! So they just made something up, a massala (which is just "sauce" and can be pretty much anything) and the dish stuck.
