IrishMag 0
First post so I'll probably be slaughtered. anyways... The Argument against is obviously his lack of selection stability as everyone is aware of. That and he speaks shiite But think about this, Chelsea now are mainly made up of players HE brought to the club. Cech - Arranged while he was in charge Terry - Could say he brought him through Gallas - Very good player Lampard - Has come into his own under José, but brought to the club by Ranieri Duff, Joe Cole, Makelele, Crespo, Gudjohnsen, Bridge (when he was on his game) were all Ranieri signings. Robbens transfer was also arranged while he was in charge. He gave Chelsea a 4th place and 2nd place finish, got to an FA Cup Final, reached the CL Semi Finals. What would we give for that right now! Just pointing at the positives before dismissing him too quickly as an option. I still want Hitzfeld or O'Neill though Edited February 16, 2006 by IrishMag
Craig 6703
Cech and Robben were transfers arranged while Ranieri was in charge, but it's commonly accepted that Kenyon, and not Ranieri was repsponsible for them...

David Kelly 1306
He's just the sort of appointment I expect from the fat man tbh. Fred's record of appointing managers suggest he will go for someone who is the anti Souness. As such Ranieri is likeable to the fans and his teams play attractive football. Never mind that we could appoint someone who could move the club forward in the long term when we can look for a short term change eh?
IrishMag 0
I stand corrected over Terry (made his debut the season before Ranieri took over) However he did win Chelseas player of the year during Ranieri's first season. Also I was wrong about Gudjohnsen. Whether he would be good here I don't know, but you can't say that he didn't sign quality at Chelsea, at lot of whom are responsible for where they are now. Anyway its only him thats expressed interest, not the club.
Ted Maul 0
I'd be content with Ranieri. I can see him bring positive football and European qualification back to the club but nothing more.
Jimbo 175
Ranieri would be behind O'Neill, Hitzfeld and Roeder for my choice of manager, but I wouldn't be disapointed with him.

Ted Maul 0
If Roeder stays for the full twelve weeks and we continue to perform well then i'd put him in the running but behind the likes of Hitzfeld, O'Neill, Ranieri etc.
Rob W 0
fair enough - if we get into Yurop and a Cup Final spot it would be bloody silly not to consider Roeder
Optimistic Nut 303
in the 2001-2 season when Houllier was ill, Phil Thompson took over for several months and they finished 2nd. Do you think he was ever considered for the top post just because he did a good job in a Caretaker role?

Do you think he was ever considered for the top post just because he did a good job in a Caretaker role? 95601[/snapback] That's a fair point and I hope that Roeder isn't in the running even if we were to get into Europe and/or win the cup, unless we really have no one better to take the job.
