Renton 22387
And I mean the country, not the highstreet shop. I found some cheap flights and accomodation so I'm taking the missus away for a long weekend in March. Trouble is, I'm getting a bit nervous about the food there. Reading a guidebook, they specialise in such delicacies as putrified shark meat (which apparently will make almost anyone hurl), roast puffin (which I'm willing to try), and whale blubber (which I'm not). To compound matters, my wife is a non fish-eating veggie. Still, if I can't stomach the food, I can always go to Macdonalds - a bargain at £15 for a big Mac. Has anyone got any recommendations on restaurants or bars in Rejkjavik? Preferably ones where the food is edible and I won't have to remortgage the house to buy? sweetleftpeg 0
My Mrs is veggie as well. Splitarses, don't trust them. All I know about Iceland is that it's fucking dear. And they breed pop pixies who shit on stage during gigs.

Did you know (for Gemmill) the Vikings named Greenland and Iceland so as to confuse their enemies as it should the other way round (read that somewhere once so don't blame me if it's bollocks). I'm thinking of packing a suitcase full of pot noodles tbh. Anyway, I was obviously hoping for a reply from Rob but Alex has put him into a flounce. sweetleftpeg 0
Actually, on a serious note, my neighbour went last year and said it was fucking freezing all the time. Yes, I know it goes without saying that Iceland would be cold, but being northerners we think cold means shorts weather.

Renton 22387
Are you stopping in the ice hotel, Rentboy? 92290[/snapback] No. Is that in Iceland? I know someone who had their honeymoon there (for some odd reason), and they complained it was freezing.

GFP 0
Well if you don't want to re-mortgage your house then you'vr booked the wrong place!!! £10 a pint, plenty of fish restaurants, and good looking local Icelandic women etc. There is a restaurant in Reykjavik where you can go and get to cook the food how you like it at your own table!!! but very pricey. Your best bet is to go to somewhere on the outskirts called The Pearl, it's basically 4 huge geothermal tanks with a visitor attraction built on top. They have an artifical geysir, but it also has a reveolving restaurant on the top floor with superb veiws over the city and glaciers in the distance. ALthough I couldn't afford to eat there I think an ice cream was £7 You'll have to got to the Blue Lagoon though and give that a try and if you get a chance take a trip to the Golden Circle (Gulfoss waterfall and the Geysirs), its also bizarre noticing the bananas growing in the green houses!!!! But other than that you'll get the four seasons and come back fucking skint
rikko 20
They have a lot of dried fish, which smells horrid but actually tastes alright. The hotdogs there are really nice aswell. THe other advice is buy duty free on the way in to drink in iceland as thats a hell of alot cheaper then buying your beer there.
