Ayatollah Hermione 13866
Aye, time to face the realism that Steve Bruce is a total dinosaur who can’t coach players in the slightest. How every single player needs 3 touches to control a pass, set themselves and move it on is ridiculous

Howay 12496
Was hoping we were decent after the first game, seems like it was more that West Ham are really, really shit. Another season of hoping there are at least 3 worse. Hopefully Ashley suing the heck out the PL can force a sale.
Polarboy 2311
Were we total shite, badly set up to deal with Brighton and Lamptey, and was Bruce too slow to change things? Yes. But Brighton and Lamptey were also extremely good and if we shouldn't have gotten carried away by last weeks win, we shouldn't get carried away by one defeat from, again, a very good Brighton side. Of course I do worry about Bruce's ability to anticipate, plan, and then modify his tactics should he need to on the day. Fingers crossed for the court case once again
Ayatollah Hermione 13866
Problem is that “you don’t change a winning side” is such an outdated mentality. You needed more pace in the side to counteract Brighton and Carroll was never going to have any luck against 3 commanding centre halves. It shows a total lack of preparation, flexibility and nous. Not to mention his inability to coach and use his full squad in any kind of flexible manner. Brighton are a light year ahead of us in coaching and overall managerial vision; they’re aggressive with youth, they have a philosophy driven by Ashworth and they’re perfectly set up to exploit and batter one-note shambolic outfits like us 1

Anorthernsoul 1221
Bruce completely out thought by Potter, they came with a game plan Newcastle looked clueless especially first half. ASM is not defensive minded, should have had more cover over that side after that kid's performance against Chelsea.

WTF was Lascelles thinking of when he sprinted forward instead of running back to get closer or even challenge the Brighton striker for the second. For the third,100% cowardice shown by the useless/clueless Lascelles.

Sonatine 11376
Quote Newcastle manager Steve Bruce to BBC Sport: “It was a really difficult afternoon for us. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb. We’ve gifted them the first two goals. When you start like that it’ll be a difficult afternoon. “We changed formation at half-time and it helped us slightly but we couldn’t recover from an awful 10 minutes.” "Since I’ve been here it’s like this. We do OK for a while then we throw a hand grenade in. We’ve got to be better than we were today.” Brewcey with his usual razor sharp insight.
