keep wilson.

we'd probably only invest any fee for him on bringing back john burridge from the kerala blasters.

Yeah and Burridge would set St James' Park on fire killing thousands which the Right Wing press would blame India, leading to Pakistan feeling emboldened enough to launch a ground assault ramping up tensions in the region. Russia and China would get nervous and begin posturing, using Korea as a theatre for their conflict, in a fit of rage Kim launches a nuke at China, they retaliate with strikes of their own against Korea and Russia (who they blame), Russia sees it's own end and tries to bring down everyone with them, America joins in and the world is destroyed.

I assume he's on big wages, and when fit he's a good striker. But I think he's missed something like 84 games in 4 seasons. We've only had 152 league games in that time!

That's an absolutely awful injury record and for a bloke approaching 33, I'm not sure he's going to spontaneously become more robust this season. If someone offers £10-15mil I'd be selling him

Eddie allegedly wants to keep Miggy too. I think both reports are a pile of shit pedalled by journos who aren’t getting a thing from NUFC any more but are under pressure from sports edotors. We may keep one or both. But Scott Wilson from the Northern fuckin Echo certainly doesn’t know but he does know a story saying that Eddie wants Wilson to stay has little or no consequences :cuppa:

It's silly season, no manager is going to say "oh aye. happy to get rid of him", "I really like him and would like him to stay" is just a wee bit more supportive/motivational.

Say the former and then if you can't get the upgrade deal/player you want and you have to retain current player, that player will be REALLY happy.

Not to mention the message saying "want rid" sends to prospective buyers.

The season 22/23 season wasn't as bad as the others.  Get another striker is we can rotate with him and I think he can still be a big asset to the club.  BUT no doubt he will want to be starting.

I'll ask him next time I see him.

problem with getting rid of wilson is you then need to get two strikers in - not cheap. the gamble wih relying on two strikers backfired last season. unless we sell wilson, get someone for right wing, such as mbuemo, who can also cover at CF, plus a young reserve striker for a smaller transfer fee

Aye, ask the missus if she can go on top for a few months to save his hammys for the weekends ;)

Expected to miss the first game of the season.

He's had to have a procedure on a back problem. Howe must fucking dread seeing this bloke appear at his office door.

May as well expect the worst this season (ie he will miss 2/3rds of the season with multiple niggles) and bring in another first choice striker to compliment Isak

He's not a bad third choice to be fair. But that's what he has to be prepared for this season.

Surely we will get a decent back up in for Isak now.

At this point I'm not sure if Wilson can be relied upon to be available if striker 1 and 2 go down. 4th choice maybe? I hope West Ham are still interested or maybe Forrest do us a massive favor again.

Newcastle have been hit by a further injury blow, with confirmation that Callum Wilson has left the club's training camp due to injury.

Speaking on Friday, Eddie Howe said:

"Callum (Wilson) has just gone to see a back specialist just to have a little procedure on his back...It’s just something he’s been feeling a little bit so we’re just getting it checked out. Let’s see (if he'll be fit for the start of the season).

The 32 year-old has one year on his current contract and although in the squad that travelled to Germany, was absent from group photographs taken in recent days.

Like most I think he is a great option to have, but we know how unreliable he is.  Would be nuts to go in to another season with only him and Isak.  I dont mind him staying, but think we need a 3rd option (to really be 2nd option and maybe offer something different to Isak)
