It’s like being there. Just need everyone to go back to school and work so I can try pornhub. (Not my win) The cables. The smart meter. The Oak Furniture Land monstrosity. I bet the wife was watching Attenborough thinking "I'd like to be eaten by that lion. It would at least be quick."

Christmas Tree 4725
Has anyone else watched Gemini Man in 120 fps? (The movie itself is poor). Although the clarity is superb, it is almost to real for movie watching. Some scenes work well but others are just way to lifelike. Plenty of clips of it on YouTube. If you're buying a new TV they're is no reason not to get 4k, doing anything else would be fruitless, it'll be the standard, 8k is pointless yet and it'll move on before content is widely available (and I think the only real use of it is massive panels) Sky etc will look no worse upscaled really, There's also plenty of 4k content on netflix, prime, YouTube, bluray, games etc (assuming your kids are that age for xbox ps4 etc) If you're just looking to upgrade your TV for sake of it but buying the same size and not connecting it to anything 4k then I wouldn't bother until it either breaks or you're looking to use 4k/getting a different size. Hisense make good cheap 55"+ 4k panels, which is what my next one is likely to be, my other ones is a 50"Sony Our Main tv is a 50 inch Hisense cracking telly for the price we paid. Its smart but not 4K. I'd definitely have another Hisense we've had Sony & Samsung TV's & they were double what we paid for this one
trooper 940
I'm not really a fan of sound bars I can see the appeal no tucking wires under the carpet. I prefer the traditional surround sound set up with separate speakers. We just use the telly speakers for now I'd really like a fully wireless speaker set up . Obviously the price would be mental. New one is a 55" B7500 which is sound for what it'll be used for, 1080p movies, sky and 4k prime/netflix mostly, paid less than £400 for it in a sale, good bang for buck, TCL and HiSense seem to be winning that price range easily now. Likewise i'd like the same for the main tv but unless you're going into a new build and have the wires chased into walls, and an amp cabinet, speakers boxed into the wall etc it's just too much hassle like you say wiring/powering speakers and subs around the place. Soundbars have came a long way mind so you can get decent enough sound for less money not sure i'd have spent a grand on the one CT bought mind, think when you get to that end of the price scale it's more like a 5.1 sound bar that does some atmos, but not really (bit of a jack of all trades with technology it supports but doesn't use that well), other than that spend a few hundred quid on something reasonable with 5.1 and a wireless sub The arc is going for £679 at the minute. I would have loved a 5.1 set up and toyed with the idea but wooden floors put a stop to it. The idea with the arc is that over time I can add the wireless subs to it. That said I get nervous enough hearing the footsteps on Fortnite just off the TV so god knows how anyone copes playing games on surround sound. Christmas Tree 4725
45 minutes ago, Ant said: your soundbar is/will be surround sound/atmos already that's what i was getting it it's got 11 drivers so it's atmos supported and has up firing speakers to bounce of the ceiling (as opposed to an atmos setup with ceiling speakers etc) So it will sound good, but not sure it'd be worth 700 for "atmos" when a similar 5.1 soundbar with sub would have been maybe 300 or so. Depends what ya want like , inbuilt alexa etc is not something i have a need for. depends how picky you are etc, speakers and audio is one of those real "get what ya pay for" areas, best of buying the best of what you'd use rather than something that does a bit of everything imo Definitely the Atmos effect I was after and Ive had my eye on quite a few Soundbars over the last few weeks, particularly the new Sony Ht-g700 for £400’ish. But then you start getting into reviews on Avforums and find that they just don’t deliver the Atmos effect. The arc only started landing with people yesterday and Avforums is awash with very happy buyers. I would be gutted to pay £4-500, not get the effect I’m after and knowing I could have the arc for a few dollars more. Never had anything from Sonos before but the seem to get a lot of praise for regularly updating their software over the lifetime of the product. Agree about Alexa. I have Alexa on the fire cube already, google on the TV and the only thing it ever gets used for is a timer when something’s cooking.
