The Entirely Reasonable Potential Transfers Thread

A few years ago, I was really surprised by a man who did not know anything and who seemed to get absolutely all the signings right. Gianluca Di Marzio. He put breaking news and news on Twitter, with exclusive photos of the players ... And they ended up being fulfilled.

The problem? The world of transfers is very complex. There are transfers that are closed, in the absence of only a signature, or a medical examination, and in the end they cannot be finalized. I know of some cases, like Cazorla. When he played for Arsenal, he spent a few days in Madrid. We have a mutual friend, we ate together ... He had undergone a medical examination with the Atletico. And he never signed. Something similar happened to Negredo in 2014 when he already had everything agreed.

But Di Marzio seemed to get everything right. At that time I was working at El Mundo (the national newspaper with the most readers in Spain), covering Atlético de Madrid. It was 2014, the year of the World Cup in Brazil. And I remember seeing Di Marzio on the Brazilian beaches with players and former players as if he were everyone's friend. That guy had ties to everyone.

The bad thing is that he realized that what he sold the most were simple unsubstantiated rumors. He spent a few years writing absolute garbage and was no longer reliable. Until he came back on the right path.

For a couple of years, Fabrizio Romano, who is an apprentice of Di Marzio, has appeared. They worked together. Romano collaborates with clubs and agents. He may fail in signings, but everything he says that he is negotiating is usually true. Regrettably. Or almost everything. His apprentice is Matteo Moretto.

You have so much credibility its unreal

I don’t think it’s any reflection on you, more how it took many of us a while to get back into taking an interest in the club. Especially with Bruce still stinking the place out back then

Fair, it also doesn't actually bother me in the slightest  Diego definitely has more credibility than I do when it comes to these matters

I always say the same respect the transfer market.

I don't believe anything until I see the player being announced for the team. And not even like that. Do you remember Fernando Hierro? The CB of Real Madrid and Spanish National Team in 90s?

This man played in Valladolid... And Atletico signed him. He was announced officialy by Atletico, he made photos in the Stadium.... And the same day in the afternoon he was signed by Real Madrid and played 15 years in Real.

And like this there are so many failed transfers.

I didn't know this story....

One of my favourites was Rosicky.

When he played in Borussia, his elder young Jiri Rosicky played in Atletico Young Team. Atletico get a deal to sign him and Rosicky took a flight. During the travel, Borussia did not trust the Atletico Payment and decided to sell him to Arsenal.

When Rosicky arrived to Madrid, he arrived to Atletico Academy ground, ready to meet de city and everything when he received a phone call to his agent. Ok boy, you are an Arsenal player .

The interested team looks like is Arsenal.

Yes, but there is apparently another team speaking to him.

With Panja’s history  and his snidely remark it looks like it could be us.

Some real Jedi/Padawan stuff going on with these journalists in the foreign lands.

What's this kid like? Vlahovic?  Where is our Italian correspondent?

Not as reliable as Ciaomanheyman but as he's busy.

Quote
Dusan Vlahovic
Age 21
Team Fiorentina / Serbia
Position Forward

This winter’s must-have striker, at least if you are a big hitter whose finances have survived Covid-19, is a 21-year-old Serb who appears to have it all. Vlahovic joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2018 and, since last December, has hardly stopped scoring. At the time of writing he had found the net 43 times for club and country in 12 months, with seven in his past five games, earning him a first appearance in our list. It means he tops the Serie A charts and La Viola face a seemingly impossible task in keeping him. The 6ft 3in Vlahovic, who is blessed with strength, speed and subtlety, has rejected the biggest contract offer in their history and could leave for free in 2023. Fiorentina may have to cash in and will start the bidding at around £70m.

We are actually being linked Vlahovic

Surely no chance as he apparently turned down Arsenal

I can't see it happening but money talks, presumably arsenal would need to get some high earners off their books.
