The Fish 10857
They can't announce anything until the new owners have got their "Howay the lads" down pat.
trooper 940
Not sure how reliable this is but here it is... From 90Min: ‘Benitez met with the Newcastle board last week, and 90min has learned that the former Liverpool boss has informed the club he wants a guarantee of a £100m budget to take the club forward written into his deal; this excluding money raised through player sales, and not inclusive of player wages. And although the club are keen to extend Benitez’s stay, there is an unwillingness to bow to his demands, thus the delay in any confirmation. It remains to be seen whether the club will give Benitez what he wants – it remains unlikely – or whether Benitez himself will be given enough assurances to re-sign.’
Rayvin 5223
Maybe they can split the difference and end up about something along the lines of the £80m they spunked away on McClaren.

If it was the latter, surely the matter would be over by now. There must be a general sense that some compromise remains possible or it'd be over. It does rather feel like this meeting is going to define the next 5 years of our club though.
Kitman 2207
Ashley has been very clear since the early days that the club needs to fund itself. If Benitez wants money over and above that I doubt he's going to get what he wants
trooper 940
If this £100 million is true (I've no idea if it is) it goes against all of Ashley's constraints. Must include agents fees & the whole of the players contract wages. Never in a million years will Ashley allow that.

There are a handful of people who know what the situation is and none of them are talking. We'll know when the likes of Caulkin, Bird, Edwards put something out, or the club does. Until then every 90Min or Sunday Sport story should be put straight into the bin.

ewerk 30619
90 mins? Keith Bishop really isn’t the force he used to be. He’d be better leaking these ‘stories’ to the Weekly World News.
