aimaad22 4222
Yet another record broken by the great man yesterday. Couldn't be happier for him. Also couldn't help wondering how many goals has he exactly scored in his career? This would include all competitions for all clubs and the internationals. Would love to see that one figure. Anybody know where to get these stats??
Guest Sima
around 350 IIRC. EDIT - Shamelessy stolen from NUFC.com Club Record (Total): Southampton 158 games* 43 goals Blackburn Rovers 171 games* 130 goals Newcastle United 394 games* 201 goals So 374. He would have been scoring at the same rate for years without those injuries and when you add in all the goals he'd have got in the time he was out, in the time he was slowly getting fitness back and all the extra goals he'd have got through being at his best he would have smashed every record going! Optimistic Nut 190
Let's not forget the 30 he scored for England, so it's 404 career goals.

aimaad22 4222
thanks lads, not as good as pele but 404 is no joke especially considering that injury. But people forget something, alan shearer has played for southampton, blackburn and newcastle. All of which for the most part have been nothing more than average teams with average players. One can confidently say if he had the kind of service the peles and van bastens got he would have scored more. Im not saying he's as good as them because he certainly isn't, but shearer's stats, astonishing as they are dont convey the whole picture. Now anyone know where to get the stats for today's other greats like henry and van nistelrooy?? Im looking at sites but help would be appreciated. menace13 0
How were Blackburn an average team when Shearer played for them? A season after he come to us they won the title or something.

Optimistic Nut 190
I wonder if Pele's record would have been half as good had he played in Europe.
Papa Lazaru 0
Its true that whilst Blackburn won the title and in his time here we have played some good football that he hasn't played in a great team and not for any length of time. If he'd went to manu when they were at their best he could have been knocking in 40 a season with the service they used to provide. Fortunately for us he told fergie to shove it and came here! Isegrim 9906
Anyone else wondering why .com are really quiet about the record. No article. Nothing. I remember them making much more fuzz about Shearer's records in the past...
