Holden McGroin 6785
Squad: Given, Harper, Ramage, Babayaro, Bramble, Elliott, Boumsong, Clark, Parker, Solano, Emre, Dyer, Brittain, N'Zogbia, O'Brien, Shearer, Ameobi, Luque, Chopra. I'd personally go with ----------------------Given - Rambo--Bramble---Boumsong---Babayaro Solano-------Parker-------Emre------N'Zogbia ---------------Shearer---Luque ....Although I am tempted to play Shola instead of Luque and get Nobby and Zoggy to whip in as many crosses as possible. Shearergol 0
I'd play Shola up front with Luque. *can't believe I just said that*
Optimistic Nut 190
I'd play Shola up front with Luque. *can't believe I just said that* 88716 I'd actually agree with that. I could imagine in training sessions gone by, Shola taking the piss out of O'Brien so he might raise his game tomorrow.
sweetleftpeg 0
Shearer picks the team now, so there's no fucking chance of a Shola-Luque partnership. Even if Shearer gets injured he'll be out there on crutches I imagine 'must....break...Milburn...record....'

Bombadil 0
I think we'll win, 2-1. I'm quite optimistic about Roeder/Shearer as a short-term, temporary solution.
David Kelly 1260
I'm always confident of home wins unless we're playing Arse, Manure or Chelski and I think the wave of relief over Souness's departure will be more than enough to take us past a team of Portsmouths standard. 3-1. I'm quite optimistic about Roeder/Shearer as a short-term, temporary solution. 88775 I have to be optimistic as I advocated this solution (though not knowing about the 12-week rule) for a couple of months now. It's probably sad, but the overdue sacking of the tosser really lifted my mood. If the whole atmosphere at SJP is better tomorrow it might raise the player's spirit and confidence as well. I hope for a win and a good game that will be the turning point of this season.

Being a central defender isn't all about pace - not that I think Shearer is as slow as you make out anyway. More importantly it's about good positional sense, having good technique, being good in the air, being brave, being a good passer, and being an effective tackler. Its about being clever and having good judgement, and never losing concentration. For me, Shearer scores highly in most these virtues. Someone like Boumsong, however, seems to lack them all. I know who I think would make a better defender at the minute.

Bombadil 0
It's utterly ridiculous the way we manage to make sure every foreign player we buy ends up a failure. And no, it's not always down to the players.

Though, Luque can't really complain looking back at his recent performances and this being a 6-pointer.
