We're the only team down there on a downward spiral.. very scary.

Craig 6700
from .COM... We're going down with the mackems Man City 3 Newcastle 0 A desperate result and a desperate performance for a desperate manager. It's difficult to know where we go from here but relegation must now be a real threat for a side whose current form reads: P W D L F A Pts 6 0 1 5 2 11 1 Just five teams are now below us in the table: Middlesbrough, West Brom, Portsmouth, Birmingham and the mackems - four of those picking up points midweek. An awful performance at the City of Manchester Stadium saw us tumble to our equal worst result of the season. Inevitably Andy Cole was able to rub his former manager's nose in it, heading the second goal after Albert Riera had opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Darius Vassell completed the job after 62 minutes and the only surprise was that City didn't go on to get more against a Newcastle side that never threatened to get back in the game or score at all. Saturday's substitutes Charles N'Zogbia and Emre both started with Shola Ameobi and Nobby Solano making way. Solano and Luque were brought on at half-time for N'Zogbia and Chopra but by that time we were already two down. We never showed anything like the pace and power that brought City their third and our white flag was waved long before the final whistle. We now face a relegation six-pointer on Saturday against Portsmouth. Anything other than a win will leave us staring firmly down a barrel. Full match report to follow. Team: Given, Ramage, Boumsong, Bramble, Babayaro, Clark, Parker, Emre (O'Brien 81), N'Zogbia (Solano 45), Shearer, Chopra (Luque 45). Subs n/u: Harper, Elliott. Booked: Bramble. Man City: James, Jihai, Dunne, Distin, Jordan, Sinclair,Barton (Richards 78), Musampa, Riera, Cole (Samaras 65),Vassell (Sibierski 69). Subs Not Used: Ireland, Wright-Phillips. Booked: Barton. Goals: Riera 14, Cole 38, Vassell 62. Crowd: 42,413 Referee: Chris Foy (Merseyside).
