I think it's his pride that is stopping him from resigning. He does have a massive ego and maybe does truly believe that he can still drag the club back from the brink. If and when he gets sacked, we'll never hear the end of him going on about how he never had his 'proper' team out etc. If whoever comes in to replace him turns the team around he'll also give endless interviews about how he 'did all the hard work and brought in a quality squad which is now starting to gel.'
